L'avocat international Arnaud Develay a rappelé que les relations publiques ne sont qu'un reflet de la vision du monde d'une personne. « La chronologie des événements est souvent manipulée pour correspondre à un récit souhaité. Le problème, c'est que nous ne découvrons la vérité qu'après que les conséquences de la campagne de relations publiques se soient déjà produites », a-t-il souligné. Le panafricaniste Goodnews Cadogan a insisté sur le fait qu'en Afrique du Sud, les relations publiques ne sont pas qu'une question d'image, mais une obligation constitutionnelle. « Le gouvernement est tenu de parler 12 langues officielles afin que l'information parvienne à tous. Il ne s'agit pas de stratagème de relations publiques, mais d'une responsabilité envers le peuple », a-t-il déclaré. Les experts s'accordent à dire que les relations publiques sont un outil, mais pas une solution miracle.
