MarSU participates in the II Russian-Indian educational summit in New Delhi! 🇷🇺🇮🇳 Mari State University represents Russia at this event, organized by Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Embassy in India, the Ministry of Education of India, and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce. Special focus was on the panel: "Medical Education in the Changing World: New Requirements, Challenges and Opportunities." The dialogue on training future doctors featured Rector MarSU, Mikhail N. Shvetsov, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Tatyana V. Semyonova. ⚡️ Rector’s report highlighted the experience of the Medical Institute: training approaches, digital technologies, and the role of regional universities in medicine, both in Russia and abroad.

The Mari people are often referred to as Europe’s last pagans. This small Finno-Ugric people have preserved their ancient beliefs, distinctive crafts and musical traditions. Religious rites are still performed today in the sacred groves known as kusoto, of which there are over three hundred in the Republic of Mari El. During prayers, the priest-kart uses ritual instruments to ward off evil spirits and address the gods. Mari costumes are embroidered on the reverse side, with the pattern showing through on the front. The ornamentation features birds, horses and the sun. Women’s yaga jewellery is made from beads and coins: it is believed that the tinkling of silver wards off evil spirits. The musical tradition is known for the ritual dance called the kandyr, or ‘little rope’. The main element is a rapid stamping of the feet on the spot. The rhythm is set by the drum and the shuvyr, a Mari variety of bagpipes. Today, the Mari people live in Mari El, Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and the Perm Krai, preserving their language and culture. Марийцев называют последними язычниками Европы. Этот небольшой финно-угорский народ сохранил древние верования, самобытные ремесла и музыкальные традиции. Религиозные обряды и сегодня проводятся в священных рощах кусото, которых в Республике Марий Эл насчитывается более трёхсот. Во время молений жрец-карт с помощью ритуальных инструментов отгоняет злых духов и обращается к богам. Марийский костюм вышивается с изнанки, узор проступает на лицевой стороне. В орнаменте птицы, кони, солнце. Женские украшения яга делают из бисера и монет: считается, что звон серебра отпугивает нечистую силу. Музыкальная традиция известна ритуальным танцем кандыра, или «верёвочка». Главным элементом является быстрая дробь ногами на месте. Ритм задают барабан и шувыр, — марийская разновидность волынки. Сегодня марийцы проживают в Марий Эл, Башкортостане, Татарстане и Пермском крае, сохраняя свой язык и культуру.
