The bar graph illustrates the proportion of the global population accounted for by four countries — India, China, the USA and Japan — in 1950 and 2002, with projections extending to 2050. Overall, China represented the greatest share of the world's population over the period, although India is forecast to surpass it by 2050. Notably, population shares declined across all countries examined except India, whose proportion rose, and these trends are projected to persist — with the USA standing as the sole exception. Turning to the two most populous nations, China accounted for approximately 23% of the global population in 1950, the highest figure recorded across the entire period. Despite having fallen by around 3 percentage points by 2002, China's share remained the dominant one. India closely followed at 15% in 1950 but, unlike China, saw its proportion rise, albeit marginally, to roughly 18% by 2002. By contrast, the remaining countries registered considerably lower proportions. The USA comprised around 7% of the global population in 1950, compared with Japan's 3%. Both figures subsequently declined to 5% and 2% respectively by 2002. Looking ahead to 2050, India's share is expected to continue its upward trajectory, reaching just under 20% and overtaking China as the world's most populous nation. China and Japan, meanwhile, are projected to experience further declines, with their respective shares falling to approximately 15% and a mere 1%. The USA alone is forecast to buck this trend, with its share of the global population expected to stabilise at around 5%

The line graph illustrates the quantities of acid rain pollutants discharged by four sectors — electricity, gas and water supply, other industries, transport and communication, and domestic — between 1990 and 2007. Overall, three of the four sectors recorded declining emissions over the period, with the utility sector experiencing the most pronounced reduction. While this sector was the largest emitter in 1990, other industries had surpassed it by the mid-1990s and remained so until the end of the period. The domestic sector consistently produced the least pollution throughout. Regarding the two higher-emitting sectors, the utility sector discharged approximately 3.2 million tonnes in 1990 — the highest figure recorded across all categories. This fell sharply and continuously, bottoming out at around 0.5 million tonnes by 2007. Other industries, meanwhile, maintained relatively stable output of just above 2 million tonnes until the mid-1990s, before declining more gradually to approximately 1.3 million tonnes, overtaking the utility sector as the dominant emitter around 1996. The domestic sector followed a more measured downward trajectory, declining from approximately 0.6 million tonnes in 1990 to around 0.2 million tonnes in 2007, with only brief plateaus interrupting an otherwise consistent fall. Transport and communication, by contrast, showed the greatest stability of all four sectors, fluctuating narrowly around 0.7 million tonnes for most of the period before peaking at roughly 1 million tonnes in 2005 and subsequently returning to its original level by 2007. 8.0+

The pie charts illustrate how UK people distributed expenditure across seven expense categories in the years 1971 and 2001. Overall, the percentages of spending on cars, restaurants and computers rose, while that on food, petrol, furniture, and books fell between 1971 and 2001, with food witnessing a particularly dramatic decline. Notably, while food represented the largest expense in 1971, cars took over as the dominant category in 2001. In 1971, food made up a staggering 44% of the total budget, twice as high as the second largest expense type—cars. By contrast, the shares of the other expense items were far lower. For example, only 10% and 9% of the total expenditure went to petrol and furniture, while spending on eating out comprised 7%, books 6%, and computers only 2%. Over the next four decades, however, this pattern of expense allocation changed significantly. Spending on cars nearly doubled, reaching 43% and surpassing food as the dominant item of expenditure, while food and restaurants were jointly ranked second at 14% each. Computer expenditure also rose sixfold, reaching 12% - most significant proportional increase of any category, whereas the proportions of petrol and furniture went down to the same 8%. I feel like recordings used in the IELTS exam cannot really mimic the real-life listening that takes place when you are exposed to live English. I mean, these recordings are slowed down, polished, and standardized. It is perfectly possible to ace the IELTS listening test and still feel totally lost in real-life conversations with native speakers.
I always enjoy witnessing how English evolves with the developments in technology and the world by large. Just a few years ago, all the of highlighted expressions would have been totally alien even to native speakers of the language. I wonder how much of the contemporary English Shakespeare would be able to comprehend.
Now that it is summer all over again, I guess I can now spare some time to run this channel. Stay tuned!

Of all the scores out there, I like 6.5 most. Students with this particular band score usually demonstrate the highest upside potential, and end up with the most significant score improvements after my courses. I don’t know if this is a coincidence or correlation..
