The Story of Unitree’s IPO In 2009, as a university freshman, Wang Xingxing spent just ¥200 of his own money to build a small robot. What began as a personal obsession with robotics eventually became something much bigger. During his master’s studies, Wang developed XDog, a low-cost quadruped robot. After graduating, he briefly joined DJI, but chose to leave and build his own company. In 2016, he founded Unitree Robotics with a simple but ambitious idea: make advanced robots more accessible. Unitree first made its name with affordable quadruped robots, before expanding into humanoids such as the H1 and G1. Over the years, Wang’s engineering-first approach helped turn a small robotics startup into one of China’s most prominent robotics companies. By 2025, Unitree had reached ¥1.7 billion in revenue. Now, just ten years after its founding, Unitree has reached another milestone: its 2026 IPO on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, raising about $900 million at a valuation of roughly $9 billion.
