Everyone who raised loud questions on “merit” during NEET PG 2025 counselling must now answer one more important question: Will they also demand immediate implementation of the Supreme Court’s 29 Jan 2025 judgment against domicile-based reservation in PG medical admissions? If merit is the real concern, then PG State Quota seats should not remain closed behind state domicile walls. The Supreme Court has clearly said India has one domicile — Domicile of India — and PG medical admissions cannot be restricted on residence-based discrimination. So where are the same voices now? Will they support open, merit-based PG counselling across India for NEET PG 2026–27? Or was “merit” only a selective argument used during NEET PG 2025 counselling controversies? Toppers should get opportunities based on NEET PG rank, not on state barriers, closed quotas, or local restrictions. If we truly want merit, then we must support merit everywhere — not only where it suits us.
