𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐃𝐌 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 For Technical support , deployment , service configuration Engineers it’s important to keep the below info in mind : 1- wdm traffic is high capacity so protection is very important 2- protection is to assign dedicated resources as standby 3- restoration is to search for available resources upon failure without pre allocating resources in advance 4- sncp , olp , oms , och are different types of protection in Optical networks 5- y cable is one of the methods to protect client traffic 6- restoration is based on GMPLS ASON networks 7- protection switching time should be not more than 50 m sec 8- switching has 2 types ( unidirectional & bidirectional ) 9- switching modes can be revertive and non revertive 10- switching from main and standby could be triggered based on LOS alarm , power levels degradation , bit errors ( signal degraded ) and other alarms 11- you can lockout the protection , perform manuel switch , force switch , test the protection and release Question for you , if we locked out the protection and we got fiber cut at the working path , switching will be triggered or not ?
