Security Notice: nanocurrency-web Wallet Seed Vulnerability We are aware of a security vulnerability affecting wallets that used the nanocurrency-web JavaScript library prior to version 2.0.0. The library relied on an outdated version of crypto-js (3.x series), which uses insecure pseudorandom number generation (Math.random()) for seed creation. Seeds generated using this method may be cryptographically weak and potentially compromised. Who is affected? Any wallet whose seed was generated using nanocurrency-web prior to v2.0.0 should be considered at risk. This includes wallets built with or dependent on this library for key generation. Nauly & Natrium are not affected. What has been done? nanocurrency-web has released a patched version (v2.0.0) addressing the vulnerability. Known affected wallet developers have been privately notified to allow time for patches before broader disclosure. NanChat has released a security update and migration tool to help users move to a new, securely generated wallet. What should you do? If you believe your wallet seed was generated using nanocurrency-web prior to v2.0.0: Create a new wallet using a secure, updated tool immediately. Transfer your funds to the new wallet address without delay. Do not reuse your existing seed or wallet address. Check with your wallet provider to confirm whether they were affected and whether a patched version is available. We strongly recommend all Nano wallet developers audit their dependencies and migrate to nanocurrency-web v2.0.0 or an equivalent secure alternative.
