The question is never just what the Bible says. The deeper question is what it means, and that is where biblical hermeneutics does its work. The whole counsel of God concerning everything necessary for His glory, man's salvation, faith, and life is either expressly stated in Scripture or can be drawn from it by good and necessary consequence. Nothing is to be added, whether by new revelations or the traditions of men. Sufficiency does not mean every doctrine is spelled out in a single verse. Truths like the Trinity, the Hypostatic Union, and the Deity of Christ are drawn from the whole counsel of Scripture, and they stand firm. What sufficiency does mean is that Christ alone is enough. We do not need additional practices, extra revelations, or requirements bolted on alongside Him. Paul's warning is as sharp today as it ever was: any gospel that contradicts what has already been given is to be rejected outright, regardless of the source. We continued Hagios Biblios with The Sufficiency of Scripture, grounding ourselves in the truth that God's Word is the believer's final standard, inspired, inerrant, and sufficient for everything that concerns faith and life. Every other voice, tradition, or teaching must be brought before it and tested against what it says. The Five Solas of the Reformation are as clarifying today as they were then. Grace alone. Faith alone. Christ alone. Scripture alone. To the glory of God alone. Creation can point us to the existence of God, but it is only in the Scriptures that we find His plan of salvation through Christ laid out in full. "Only Begotten" or "only son" was used to spell out uniqueness not to declare we aren't also sons after His order and sacrifice. He is the "only son" or "only begotten" meaning "unique of His own kind" but we are sons too. The 27 books of the New Testament did not land in our hands by accident. We continued Hagios Biblios with Canon of Scripture, exploring why the Church recognised exactly these writings as the ones to be read, translated, and upheld as the standard for apostolic doctrine. As false writings began to circulate and persecution threatened to wipe out Christian literature, the Church did not panic. She carefully preserved and affirmed what God had inspired. From the very latter half of the first century, believers were already drawing clear lines between the authentic writings of the apostles and everything that fell short. That discernment was not arbitrary. It was Spirit-led, historically grounded, and it is the reason we can hold the New Testament today with full confidence that what we have is exactly what God intended us to have. True prayer does not begin with the right words or the right posture. It begins with a surrendered heart. Pastor Nelson brought a powerful charge that cut through every surface level understanding of prayer and landed on what it actually is: the place where our hearts stop insisting on their own way and come into full alignment with the will of God.
