❗️Ukraine has begun using British-made drones for deep strikes inside Russia, The Times reports, citing Ukrainian military sources. The weapons include BAE Systems’ jet-powered Nyan and another unnamed British drone. Most deep strikes still use Ukrainian systems, but British drones reportedly hit oil refineries near Moscow, Yaroslavl and Volgograd, while the Nyan was also used against Belgorod.

Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed strikes on three Russian military targets overnight into August 16. A missile unit concentration area was hit in occupied Crimea. A railway bridge near Svitlodolynske in Zaporizhzhia region, used for military logistics and troop movements, was also struck, along with logistics and ammunition depots in Karlivka, Donetsk region.

❗️A Spanish F-18 shot down a drone over Romania after it entered national airspace from Moldova at 04:44, Romania’s Defense Ministry says. The aircraft, serving an air-policing mission from Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, established radar contact and received authorization to engage. The drone was destroyed at 05:01, with a possible debris impact site identified between Băleni and Cudalbi in an unpopulated area.

❗️Ukraine’s Navy struck Russian Bastion coastal missile system positions and its deployment site in occupied Crimea overnight. The Navy says significant losses in weapons and personnel were inflicted. Bastion systems are used to launch Oniks and Zircon missiles at Ukraine.

Zelensky says Russian strikes killed 2 people in Kryvyi Rih and 1 in Sumy, while 20 others were injured in Kyiv, its region and Kryvyi Rih. He said 13 regions were attacked this week as Russia launched over 1,550 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided bombs and 62 missiles.
