Un nuovo studio dell'Università di Twente (NL) su Piracy Shield ha identificato nell'ultimo anno e mezzo 7.742 "blocchi collaterali" di siti che non c'entravano nulla con la pirateria. Di questi, 782 hanno visto la posta elettronica bloccata e 397 i nameserver bloccati. Tutt'ora risultano ancora bloccati 510 siti non evidentemente legati allo streaming illegale. Tra i blocchi ci sono ancora 176 IP Anycast di provider di protezione DDoS.
