  • 🇹🇷 Turkey : A tragic incident reportedly occurred during a TikTok livestream after a young man jumped headfirst into a water tank while recording himself. According to reports circulating online, there was not enough space inside the tank for him to turn around after entering, leaving him trapped underwater. The incident was reportedly captured during the livestream, with viewers witnessing the dangerous stunt unfold in real time. Despite efforts to help, the young man allegedly drowned. The incident has raised concerns about the risks of performing dangerous stunts for social-media content and the pressure to create increasingly extreme videos to attract viewers. Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed all details surrounding the incident, including the victim's identity and the exact location. The case serves as a tragic reminder that attempting hazardous challenges or stunts for online attention can have fatal consequences.

A CALL FOR RESPONSIBLE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP IN AKUTE The recent reported incident involving Oba Alli Idowu Akindele, Alakute of Akute Land, and the alleged attack at the Akute Central Mosque—leading to injuries and property damage—raises urgent questions about leadership, peace, and justice in our community. At a time when Akute needs peacebuilding, social cohesion, and mutual respect, any attempt by leaders to inflame ethnic or religious divisions must be treated with utmost seriousness. Traditional rulers are not just cultural figures—they are custodians of harmony, expected to: - Mediate disputes - Protect communal peace - Promote coexistence Leadership should never become a platform for intimidation, hostility, or ethnic antagonism. This is not just about one incident. It touches on: - Community security - Ethnic relations - Religious tolerance - Responsible leadership - Social order If proven true, the allegations represent a troubling departure from the principles of inclusive governance

The terrorists used my car to convey us to a point, and that's where we met the primary schoolchildren and teachers who had been abducted from the other school. We walked for one hour, and they brought 10 motorcycles, and we rode for more than 4 hours on uncharted paths, but the terrorists knew their way. - Mrs. Rachael Folawe Alamu, the rescued school principal of Community High School in Oriire LGA, gave details of how the bandits moved her and the other abducted schoolchildren to the forest.

PUBLIC ADVISORY: ILLEGAL SALE OF FUNAAB LAND BY LAND GRABBERS The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) hereby alerts the general public to ongoing illegal activities involving the encroachment and purported sale of the University land by unauthorised individuals. On 12th June, 2026, land grabbers unlawfully entered and began clearing portions of FUNAAB’s land bordering the Ogun-Osun River Basin Authority, falsely claiming authority under the State Government. Despite initial intervention by the Divisional Police Officer, Harmony Division, these individuals have continued their illegal activities. On 25th June, 2026, after the University erected signboards declaring “This land belongs to FUNAAB and is not for sale”, the land grabbers removed the signboards and commenced demolition of sections of the University’s perimeter fence. FUNAAB categorically states that no portion of its land is for sale. Any individual or group attempting to purchase land from these encroachers is engaging in an unlawful transaction that will not be recognised by the University or the Government. The University has already taken legal steps by petitioning the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, and calling on all relevant authorities to intervene, investigate, and prosecute those responsible. We strongly advise members of the public, unsuspecting buyers, and stakeholders to refrain from entering into any agreement or transaction with these land grabbers. Protecting the University’s land is vital to safeguarding its mission of education, research, and service to the nation. T. A. Adeniyi, Ph.D, JP. NDLEA Intercepts Massive Tramadol Smuggling Operation In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a truck laden with illicit pharmaceutical opioids in Lagos. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives uncovered a specially fabricated compartment reinforced with thick iron sheets on the belly of the truck, designed to conceal contraband from border and security checks. The truck, which journeyed from Togo through the Benin Republic, was found to be carrying 558,900 pills of 250mg tramadol — far exceeding Nigeria’s legal medical threshold of 100mg per dose. Tramadol, a highly controlled substance in the country, has been linked to widespread abuse and addiction. Despite elaborate efforts by traffickers to evade detection, NDLEA officers successfully intercepted the consignment upon its entry into Lagos. OGUNUPDATE
