smiling through sheer tiredness cos baby Luca decided this week to have sleep regression and that 12.30am - 2.30am is perfect to wake up and think about the universe (and drink water) But in between that and work was a serendipitous encounter last night with Hugo (left) and Huihui (right) who surprisingly was at the A FEELING OF MUSIC PLAYING cinema debut 3 years ago. This photo was prompted by Hugo who was influenced by the film to take up music once more in his life. The message screenshot is shared here with his permission. Films definitely do travel beyond whatever I can imagine.

Just in~ For the next few years, ASEAN is a key focus on mine. With Timor-Leste's joining the association last year, I knew I had to find a way to get to know the 24-year old nation better. A FEELING OF MUSIC PLAYING ought to do it. After my own independent world premiere at GV Max in 2023, and its subsequent availability on Singapore Airlines in 2024. It had been on my computer, waiting for what's next. Later this year, it will have its first festival premiere at the Dili International Film Festival in Timor-Leste, hopefully the first of many other stops around ASEAN.

Today, it hit me how time passes. My son is approaching 14 months of life, and the milestones before him already feel like a distant memory. Over the weekend, I finally started the necessary transition from Squarespace to Carrd to revitalise my website presence while also saving a whopping 90% in costs! Every website refresh brings moments of reflection. Interestingly, the hiatus of 2025 meant that 2026 inevitably became a bumper crop. 2 documentaries are now being considered for film festivals, and tomorrow I begin work on a new short documentary. In my spare time, this new website will be polished further. Relevant projects reflecting my current trajectory will be highlighted, while the films that got me where I am today will be shared in more meaningful ways. It is also timely that my first documentary, THE CONSERVATION CONVERSATION, will be 10 years old come August. Side quest the moment I got back into the game. Since last weekend and for the rest of June, Families for Life organised the annual National Family Festival, and it seems the fringe events continue over the June holidays. This was 1 of the unexpected calls that came just days after I made up my mind to embrace freelancing again, a lead talent, non-verbal role for a national campaign. Definitely a good side quest to support my other projects.

Finally 1 in the bag. HAPPY GO LUCKY will head to California, USA as part of the FINE ART FILM FESTIVAL in April 2027 =) Intriguingly in my film festival strategy this is technically the last festival in the cycle, with another 20 more pending results from August 2026 to March 2027. More updates to come~

The Universe Speaks, the River Flows ​In Jan, I announced my embracing of corporate management- a new chapter of reality and fatherly responsibility. I had comfort that trying and failing with no regrets is part of living. ​But the universe had other ideas. ​By end Feb, it was clear that between infant illnesses and my wife’s growing career, househusbandry was a must. Intriguingly, the only career that fits this rhythm is the one I’ve spent a decade building. ​By Mar, I've returned to this familiar world with renewed vigour. Since then, the doors kept opening. I am now managing 6-7 projects that are as creatively fulfilling as they are commercially viable. ​I’ve kept quiet till now as this U-turn felt premature to announce. But I realised many still think I’m in an office due to a lack of an update. So here it is: In the years ahead, I'm embracing the challenge of caring for both my biological child and the creative "children" I bring into this world. Thank you for following my journey. It​ continues.

Perks of a home cinema set up. Each documentary always comes with the stage of head wrecking struggle. But the feeling after that is always so good. Hopefully this year both this Vietnam docu as well as the Thai docu will be released on YouTube for your viewing pleasure =) Specifically for the viet doc being my last before the career transition, it is extra meaningful.

Hello~ Hope everyone's 2026 started off well. I ended 2025 and started 2026 with my family and in-laws, so I couldn't ask for anything better. I am not much of an occasion well-wisher though now feels like the best time to announce a few things. Firstly, my time as the General Operations Manager of Singapore Film Society has come to an end after an eye-opening 6 months. Secondly, I will be entering the corporate world (like actual full time job 😱) this year. It isn't in film/media. Thirdly, my A PIECE OF MINE series, with the latest being HAPPY GO LUCKY feat. Yip Yew Chong, will still continue, though at a much slower pace as I try to juggle being a father, a salaryman and a documentary storyteller for the first time. Health had also taken too far of a back seat in 2025 so a drastic change is needed this year. With all that said, this Telegram channel will likely have only sporadic updates from here on out. Thank you for following my journey. I wish you all the best in yours as well =)
