🇺🇸🇮🇱⚡️ — The Trump-Netanyahu relationship is coming to an end. Israeli elections are in just two months, and the current prime minister's position is becoming increasingly precarious. Bibi continues to hope for Trump's support, but it has yet to materialize. Under pressure from the White House, Netanyahu has already been forced to reduce bombing of the Gaza Strip and partially withdraw troops from the enclave. However, he continues to publicly criticize the "peace council" and the proposed de-escalation plan in Gaza. Trump, meanwhile, calls Bibi a "good wartime prime minister," clearly hinting that he will suffer the same fate as Churchill in 1945. Trump's team is currently in simultaneous contact with two Israeli opposition leaders: Naftali Bennett and former IDF commander Gadi Eisenkot. The latter has created his own party, Yashar, which is even ahead of Netanyahu's Likud supporters in the polls. Eisenkot publicly fell out with Bibi in 2024 and advocates for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. Jared Kushner will soon visit Israel. He will "sell" his peace plan to the Israeli opposition. The White House views the opposition as more manageable and amenable to negotiations than Bibi. Trump, however, has never forgiven the latter for being drawn into the war with Iran. Netanyahu promised a quick regime change in Tehran, which never happened. Now Trump is unable to break the Middle East impasse. Washington hopes to shift all the negativity surrounding Israel—the bombing of Gaza and the unpopular war in Iran—to Bibi.
