Nowadays, a growing number of people with health problems are trying alternative medicines and treatments instead of visiting their usual doctor. Do you think this is a positive or a negative development? It is becoming increasingly common for people to cope with their health problems on their own rather than making an appointment with medical professionals. This, for one, is not a positive development. Some people think that this is a positive, suggesting a few so-called valid reasons for their argument. One is that certain health problems, such as flu or headache, can be tackled using over-the-counter medications instead of going to see a doctor. This prevents people from the hassle of visiting hospital, saving time and money. A further reason is that when people become ill, they will start researching it online, which helps them acquire little medical knowledge, and so become medically wise. Last but not least, using natural herbs or medications of other forms helps people cure their illness, but also prevents certain chemicals, found in prescribed medicines, penetrating their body, which heals but also comes with certain side effects. However, we should not forget that some illnesses are indeed complicated and require the assistance of a medical professional. Surely, trying to overcome these illnesses with little or no medical knowledge can only exacerbate their condition. Having acquired related knowledge and developed skills, doctors can help us a great deal in these situations. What is more, while researching the illness a person has been suffering from, they are likely to come up with a wrong diagnosis, as many illnesses have alike symptoms. This is impossible for a self-appointed doctor to understand. Again, this leaves them with a need for a doctor who walks them through an in-depth medical check-up and help arrive at an accurate conclusion. By ignoring such a help and opting for an over-the-counter herb or medication does take a huge toll on ignorant people’s health. In conclusion, health is vital. So, minor or major, health problems should be treated with the help of medical professionals and people should not be hesitant when it comes to making an appointment with them, as doing so will only worsen their problem. Some people think that money should be expended to construct large and impressive buildings in cities while others think it should instead be spent on improving school and hospital premises. In my opinion, both views are relevant. Certainly, people visiting or living in the city often enjoy gazing at tall and impressive buildings that offer aesthetic appeal. This is one of the most obvious reasons why they are drawn to the idea of migrating to cities. The existence of high-rise buildings also plays a key role in stimulating economic growth because they help a great deal in attracting tourists. For instance, the Eiffel Tower alone helps France to serve an influx of tourists each year, who will stay and spend money in the host country. Another reason why it is a good idea to erect skyscrapers and other such buildings is that they help to serve businesses that operate in the city, again benefitting the government by creating more jobs and paying taxes. However, people do not visit or plan to dwell in cities only due to the benefits mentioned above. They also come or live in cities to ensure that they are provided with good education, so in order to meet their need, city authorities should allocate a certain amount of their budget to the construction of new school buildings. Apart from education, cities are also believed to provide their residents with good healthcare. However, hospitals in many cities are in poor conditions, so it is a good idea to upgrade and modernize these premises or build from scratch if necessary rather than focusing on high-rise buildings alone. To conclude, I am not against the idea of spending the city budget on erecting tall and impressive buildings. However, I also support that an equal amount of money should also be used to build high-quality hospitals and schools to better the experience of the city life. In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in. What are the reasons for this? How can people research this? It is becoming increasingly interesting for some people to research the history of the place where they live, and there are a few reasons why they do this. I think people are becoming interested in conducting the research in the statement to satisfy their curiosity. This means that it is just interesting for them to know who lived in the house or building before them. A further reason might be linked to selling. This is because some people have to know how long ago their house was built and what materials were used, as such and other factors are directly linked to the final price of the property. My final idea might seem slightly strange, but it happens to some home owners. To clarify this, we bought a house in the past where we witnessed paranormal events for several days and decided to carry out little research to find out what had really happened before we made the purchase. Clearly, people have varying reasons why they research the history of their living place. Three ways can be suggested for those amateur researchers. One of them is to make a trip to a local archive in their area where they might end up eliciting enough information they have been looking for. Another method is to have a conversation with older neighbors in the same neighborhood. These individuals might have lived with the previous owner of the house or an apartment you want to research. A final option is the real estate agent from who you or your family bought the house. They always have enough information, as they need to know a lot about the product or service they want to sell. So the way people research can also vary as their reasons. In summary, there are a range of reasons why an increasing number of people decide to research their house or apartment. While this might seem difficult, they can easily accomplish this mission within their neighborhoods: visiting the local archive or conversing with their older neighbors or real estate agents. People often find it difficult to adapt to new situations in their lives. Why do you think this is? What measures can you suggest to make it easier? It is said that being adaptable to new situations is often challenging for many people. The main reason for this I think is the fact that most people enjoy living in a bubble rather than trying to leave it. Before we look at the solution, let us have a look at the most important reason why people often have a hard time adapting to novel situations in their lives. That is the comfort zone. One hypothetical scenario is a person who has gone to the UK to study. They do find it difficult to adjust to such a life since they are away from their family and have to do everything on their own. Before this trip their parents had been cooking and doing the laundry for them, but now they have to take all the responsibility. This is not easy for most people since it requires them to step out of their comfort zones. Another yet more mature example is marriage. Most people are reluctant to make such a bold decision simply because they know they have to be responsible for a whole family, feed more heads and cover expenses such as healthcare and education. These all seem difficult for a bachelor who has been enjoying a life without any responsibilities attached to marriage. However, it does not take a life coach to adapt to such and other new situations we encounter in our lives. The only step that should be taken is for people to leave their comfort zones and embrace the responsibilities that come along the way. This might seem daunting in the beginning, but the benefits individuals will reap in the long run are worth the effort. Again, a student who has been struggling to study in the UK should imagine completing their university, finding a good job and living in their dream country. The same applies to a man who has been humming and hewing when it comes to marriage. I think people should prioritize a family over everything in their lives. If some people disagree with this view, they should quickly recall what Steve Jobs had famously said before he died. Imagining the long-term wins will certainly help people muster up the courage to leave their bubble. Overall, I think the only reason why people find it difficult to adapt to a new situation in their lives is they do not want to leave their comfort zone. Overall, this both natural and man-made process includes three main stages, harvesting and processing cacao beans followed by transporting and further processing the beans to produce chocolate. The process begins when ripe red pods are harvested from cacao trees (mostly grown in South America, Africa and Indonesia). Next, the pods are snapped in half using a large knife-like tool so that white cacao beans are taken. These white beans are then subjected to fermentation which is performed naturally by sandwiching the beans with large leaves. Once this has been done, the fermented beans are then spread onto a wooden surface. The moisture content is lost as the sun directly heats the beans. The raw dried beans are put in sacks, each of which weighs 64kg on scales, and transported by train or lorry depending on the distance. Once the bagged beans arrive at a factory, the main process – chocolate production – begins. First, beans are roasted in a special oven which heats them to a temperature of 350 centigrade. After that, they are exposed to a crusher with three blades that spin at high speed so that the beans are separated from their outer shells. Some people think that to be successful, people should be knowledgeable while others think they need to have experience. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Success means different things to different people and, therefore, there is no one-size-fits-all way of achieving it. Some people earn success with knowledge while others rely on their experience, but I also believe that there are other factors that can launch a person on a path to success. If success means being a good doctor, lawyer or scientist, a person has to invest a great deal of time and effort in seeking relevant knowledge in the chosen field, according to some people who value knowledge over experience. Others, on the other hand, believe that success does not always hinge on knowledge and instead argue that a person who wants to perform well in business has to learn through trial and error. They do not have to attend university in order to acquire business-related knowledge; in fact, many of the successful entrepreneurs have not gone to university or dropped out before graduating. However, success is not reserved for work only and does not always require knowledge or experience. For example, success can mean being a successful model or actor for someone, so this person needs beauty and talent. Experience and knowledge, however, come last. Similarly, there are many people who are knowledgeable and experienced, but remain unsuccessful at whatever they do. What these people really need is luck, I believe. There are also people who are ambitious and have set lofty goals to achieve, but are simply born in a wrong country. For them, success means moving to their dream country where they can stretch their potential and achieve their goals. In conclusion, success is broader than most people assume and requires more than just knowledge and experience.
