Piping loads for structure design What loads should be reported to Structure Department for design of pipe-racks and structures: 1- HYD test loads 2- Operation loads (W+P+T) , T: all temperaures expected during the life of the system (plant). 3- Sustain load (W+P and WNC) 4- Pure occasional loads - Items 2 and 3 could be reported separately or Max valuse of them. - If you have PSV , sequence of operation should be specified in load table. - If you have restraint on piping (directional support) report the load value , if you have simple rest then add a note for considering the friction force. - add a note for considering the proper beam / plate wherever you have piping loads. You should specify the dimensions of plates. - For platforms it should be specified that they are access or operation (maintenance) platforms. and relevant loads (kN/m2) should be specified. - For small size (exp: Size <12") consider distributed loads (kN/m) and for large size point loads is required. - To calculate seismic load for ditributed loads : first you should locate the line stop (loops should have already been located) then conider the total weight betwwen two stop x g.factor - 15 ~20% additional loads should be considered for the elements that you haven't included in your load calculation. -Load table fomat should be user friendly for report / read and find any specifiic pipe support load. You could add point load number , line number , stress job and node , load Elevation , piping loads and a remark . Directions should be clearly specified in your table. directional support load or friction load should be clearly specified. - The drawing should have only minimum required data. Remove any unnecessary items then it could be read and checked with more accuracy. - Equimpent / electrical item weight should be specified by relevant department. - Anchor beams (that have pipe stop) should be specified in pipe-racks. Side plate is required on concrete beams. Check the format at early stage with structure and piping lead engineers.
