Pirate Chain (ARRR) Unaffected by Zcash Orchard Vulnerability A recently disclosed issue in Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool could have allowed the creation of counterfeit ZEC. The bug has existed since 2022 and was fixed by Zcash on June 3, 2026 in an emergency hard fork. Pirate Chain (ARRR) is NOT affected. Pirate Chain (ARRR) is built on the Sapling shielded protocol and remains unaffected by the Zcash Orchard vulnerability. No ARRR funds are at risk. Pirate Chain's Orchard integration is underway and will uptake Zcash's Orchard bug fix, which will be extensively tested before deployment. Read more on the Pirate Chain blog. The Pirate Chain and Komodo Classic teams will continue to ensure that the security of Pirate Chain is always at the highest standard, so users can confidently transact in the most private and secure way possible. Pirate Chain's development time has been split between our full node wallet (Treasure Chest), the desktop lite wallet, and separate iOS / Android wallets. Every bug fix, every change, every new feature has ultimately meant touching 4+ different complex codebases. That meant a lot of constant work for the Pirate Chain development team resulting in delayed updates, frustrated developers, frustrated users, and less time to work on new features and improvements. That is Changing - One Wallet, All Platforms The dedicated Pirate Chain development team is now developing a whole new streamlined architecture, to bind everything into a single unified lite wallet serving all platforms under one codebase, solving all the inherent issues associated with a separated ecosystem. Hi everyone! The July newsletter is now out. Wanted to give an update to the community on the crowdfunding efforts as well. Thanks to everyone who donated to the crowdfunding campaigns. We are now at 20,000 ARRR (~$3k USD) for the development effort for Pirate-BTCPay server and around 7,000 ARRR (~$1k USD) for the idea of Pirate Chain sponsoring The Subversive Spectrum with Sal the Agorist. https://piratechain.com/crowdfunding/ We are in the process of getting a community upvoting system in place to propose projects and ideas for crowdfunding. For these first two crowdfunds we wanted to get the addresses out there before the last monthly update meeting. We were waiting on 2-3 developers to give us estimates on the Pirate-BTCPay work, but it was difficult for people to estimate if they were not familiar with the code so I ended up estimating high. It now seems that the work for Pirate-BTCPay will not take that much, so we are looking at making that address a general development fund instead. In the future once we have the upvoting system in place, we hopefully won’t run into that kind of issue again since projects won’t go to funding until after a proposal with funding requests is made and upvoted by the community. We are also looking at setting up separate general donation addresses for development, business/marketing, and a special purpose address for projects suggested and upvoted by the community.
