This is not because the connection is obscure or irrational. It is because the connection requires knowledge that spans multiple academic disciplines: astrophysics, plasma physics, geology, archaeology, and ancient history; and the modern university system does not produce scholars who span these disciplines. The astrophysicist who reads Ayaz’s paper does not read Sweatman’s archaeological decoding. The archaeologist who studies Göbekli Tepe does not read papers in solar plasma physics. The geologist who studies the Younger Dryas boundary layer does not track galactic superwave hypotheses. Each specialist holds one piece of a picture whose complete form is visible only to the person willing to hold all pieces simultaneously. The academic incentive structure actively discourages this kind of synthesis. The researcher who publishes within their discipline is promoted. The researcher who publishes across disciplinary boundaries is dismissed as a generalist in a system that rewards specialization. The very structure of knowledge production ensures that the connections between these findings remain unmade in the institutional setting where they would carry the most authority."
