Eid Mubarak | عِيدٌ مُبَارَكٌ تَقَبَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنَّا وَمِنْكُمْ May Allāh accept from us and from you
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 30 The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Actions are judged by their endings.” (Bukhārī) If we feel that we have not valued the month of Ramaḍān as we should have, we should not become despondent. If we end the month strongly, we have hope that Allāh will not deprive us of His immense bounties. Let us push ourselves on this final day by increasing our recitation of the Qur’ān and strengthening our connection with the Book of Allāh, striving to conclude Ramaḍān in the best manner.

RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 29 Abū Dharr رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: “It is better for you to set out in the morning and learn a verse from the Book of Allāh Most High than to pray one hundred units of prayer.” (Ibn Mājah) Let us make an intention to begin memorising portions of the Qur’ān after Ramaḍān. We can start with small sūrahs or with sūrahs we already recite regularly, such as Sūrah Yāsīn, Sūrah al-Mulk, and Sūrah al-Wāqiʿah. By starting with these, In shāʾ Allāh we will gradually develop the motivation and love needed to continue memorising more of the Qur’ān.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 28 ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنهما narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: “The hearts rust just as iron does.” The Companions said, “O Messenger of Allāh, how are they polished?” He ﷺ said, “By reciting the Qur’ān.” (Bayhaqī, Shuʿab al-Īmān) We often complain of finding little enjoyment or sweetness in our worship. One of the reasons for this may be the rusting of the heart. The remedy, as this ḥadīth teaches us, is the recitation of the Qur’ān. Let us therefore set a firm and realistic daily portion of the Qur’ān that we commit to reciting without fail.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 27 The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever slept through all or part of his nightly ḥizb (portion of recitation), but recited it between Fajr and Ẓuhr, its (reward) will be written for him as if he had recited it at night”. (Muslim) As Ramaḍān comes to an end, let us set ourselves a realistic daily portion of the Qur’ān that we commit to reading every day without fail. Think now about what your target will be after Ramaḍān and make a firm intention to maintain it. If we ever miss it due to unforeseen circumstances, we should strive to make it up before Ẓuhr the next day so that our connection with the Qur’ān remains unbroken.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 26 “Those who complete the Qur’ān in the morning, the angels seek forgiveness for them until the evening. And those who complete it in the evening, the angels seek forgiveness for them until the morning.” (Ḥilyatul-Awliyāʾ) As we near the end of Ramaḍān, some of us may have been blessed by Allāh with the ability to complete the Qur’ān. It is mentioned that the duʿāʾ made at the time of completing the Qur’ān is readily accepted due to its immense blessings, so let us make the most of those moments and turn sincerely to Allāh in supplication.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 25 Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said: “I have not seen anything that nourishes the mind and soul, protects the body, and guarantees success more than constantly engaging with the Book of Allāh.” Let us strive to keep the Qur’ān a constant part of our lives. The more we return to it, the more it nourishes our hearts, strengthens our faith, and guides us towards success in this life and the next.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 23 Imām al-Nawawī رحمه الله said: “Crying during the recitation of the Qur’ān is a quality of those who have a deep awareness of Allāh (maʿrifah), and it is a distinguishing feature of the pious servants of Allāh. It has been reported that ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه led the congregation in the morning prayer and recited Sūrah Yūsuf. He wept until his tears flowed over his collarbone. Another narration mentions that this occurred during ʿIshā’, indicating that this happened repeatedly. Another narration mentions that he cried until the people in the rows behind him heard his weeping.”
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 23 Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “What a profound regret and immense loss for the one who spends his life seeking knowledge, yet leaves this world without understanding the realities of the Qur’ān, nor has his heart ever truly engaged with its secrets and meanings.” Let us dedicate time in our day not only for reciting the Qur’ān, but also a separate time for pondering and reflecting upon its meanings. Through reflection and contemplation, the guidance of the Qur’ān begins to settle within our hearts.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 22 Mālik b. Dīnār رحمه الله used to recite the āyah: “Had We sent down this Qur’ān to a mountain, you would have seen it humbled, burst apart from the awe for Allāh…” (59:21) He would then say, “I swear to you, no servant truly believes in the Qur’ān except that his heart bursts open.” In these final days of Ramaḍān, let us increase the amount of Qur’ān we recite. Let us push ourselves to remain awake for whatever time we are able, spending those moments with the Book of Allāh and strengthening our connection with the Qur’ān.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 21 Imām al-Ghazālī رحمه الله said: “One is to assume that he is the one who is being addressed in every statement in the Qur’ān. Hence if he hears a command or prohibition, he assumes that he is the one who is being commanded and prohibited. If he hears a promise or threat, he does the same. If he hears the stories of the past and those of the Prophets, he realises that entertainment is not the objective, but rather it is for him to take lessons and extract from its content what he needs.” Let us recite the Qur’ān with this mindset, treating its words as guidance directed to us personally and taking from its verses the lessons we need for our lives.
RAMADAN WITH THE QURAN - DAY 20 Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “If you want to benefit from the Qur’ān, gather your heart when it is recited, focus your hearing, and act as though you are being directly addressed by Allāh, for it is an address from Him to you upon the tongue of His Messenger ﷺ. Allāh said, ‘Indeed there is a reminder in that for whoever has a heart or whoever listens attentively with his heart present’ (50:37).” Ramaḍān is here for us to build a connection with the Qur’ān. If we have not been able to make a strong start yet, we should not despair. The final ten days are the perfect opportunity to begin, renew our intention, and increase our engagement with the Book of Allāh.
