Online (no app) calorie tracker? Private or pass? I found an online, browser-based calorie tracker to track food/meals. It promises that your info is not stored in the cloud. Does this sound like a decent option, or should I pass? https://redd.it/1vnro3m @r_privacy
how do you convince other people to use privacy focused messaging apps? How can i convince people to download signal/simplex without sounding like a criminal? i got my gf to download SimpleX and try it out and the first thing she messaged me was “ this looks like a place for C Predators.” maybe it’s these apps fault? I think if these apps had a more attractive UI then people wouldn’t feel like they are using a criminal messaging hub. unfortunately people nowadays think privacy is a right only granted to criminals. https://redd.it/1vnpq8b @r_privacy

Why don't we have an universal online age verification card With the latest changes made to reddit as well as other apps, it looks like most of them now ask users to provide ID/selfie to verify their age. That means submitting sensitive info and we all know a data breach can turn nasty. Once you submit government ID photos to 20 different corporations the odds at least one of them will have its security compromised are very high. Personally I don't understand why an online age card isn't a thing, or hasn't been a thing before EU chat control and age verification and all this crap. Basically you'd just go to your local institution that issued your valid ID and apply for an online age card, which would have an unique numerical identifier different from your SSN and be tied to either a phone number or email, or even an username. something personal yet sort of public. And then you just submit a photo of this adult card instead of an ID and as long as its associated email address/phone number matches that with which the account was created, you would be good to go. The card should not have information regarding the precise birthdate, full name and place of birth / residence nor should it trace back to this information. Sounds simple enough. https://redd.it/1vnfpzj @r_privacy
