Google is working on a UI overhaul for Android Google is overhauling Android’s UI as part of its Material 3 Expressive design. Status bar icons (Wi-Fi, mobile data, aeroplane mode, battery) are updated, and panels have a blurred background instead of solid black. The brightness slider is redesigned, and a split Quick Settings/notifications panel might arrive later. The blur effect also appears in the app drawer, Recents menu, and PIN screen (along with dynamic-colored dots). The date/weather placement in the lock screen is changed, and a compact notification shelf is added. Volume sliders are thinner with distinct handles, and the media switcher is redesigned as well. The Settings app now has colourful icons, menu items within cards, and subpage arrows.
