⚖️ Proposal for Hybrid RTI Hearings before the Central Information Commission Should citizens seeking information be required to travel to a District NIC Centre merely to attend an online RTI hearing? I have submitted a representation to the Central Information Commission regarding a Hybrid Hearing System. Suggested modes of hearing: • 🏛 Physical appearance before the Commission • 🖥 Existing NIC Video Conferencing Centres • 💻 Secure online participation from any mobile, laptop or computer Expected benefits: ✔ Easier access to the RTI process ✔ Reduced travel, cost and time ✔ Better access for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and citizens from remote areas ✔ Fuel savings and reduced environmental impact This is a procedural reform that can make the RTI process more accessible.
