#tawḥīd Amongst the enemies of Islām and the muwaḥḥid is the one who doubts the one who does magic, soothsaying and not takfiring the one who worships graves and idols and so on. Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Āl ash-Shaykh said: He (Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb) said: “It is obligatory upon you to learn from the religion of Allah that which becomes a weapon with which you fight these shayāṭīn.” Does “fight them” mean that you fight them initially, or that you fight them defensively? The answer: Both. There must be defense when the situation calls for it, and there must also be initiation when its time comes, fighting with proof and clarification. If you do not possess a weapon, then fear, fear for yourself. This is why you find that some people of fiṭrah and tawḥīd, who are supposed to be, and are presumed to be, protectors of this tremendous matter, the tawḥīd of the Lord of the worlds, which is Allah’s right upon His servants, do not listen to doubts concerning tawḥīd. Yet you find that some of them today have doubts concerning siḥr (magic), or doubts concerning soothsaying. And you find some repeating statements regarding those who worship graves, worship idols, and call upon the dead and the absent with matters that none can do except Allah, or with matters that they themselves are incapable of doing. So he says: “These people have such-and-such; takfiring them is difficult, and judging them to be guilty of shirk is difficult, because they pray, they know Allah, they have love for the religion,” and similar statements! [Sharḥ Kashf ash-Shubuhāt by Shaykh Ṣāliḥ Āl ash-Shaykh p.159] ══════════ A important note is that the discussion pertaining to this as with what preceded in the past few pages is that this is directed to the one who followed the way do the scholars of the Mushrikūn, and we will bring the benefits what came before in the future In’sha’allah however the statement is clear and these people are amongst those who are the enemies as they cause doubts.

#tawḥīd Shaykh ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim an-Najdī said: If you (the opponent) say: “If he (meaning the dead) calls upon Allah, He answers his supplication more readily than He would if I were to call upon Him,” then this applies if he is alive and present, and you ask him to supplicate to Allah for you. But as for the deceased, whether a prophet or anyone else, then it is foolishness and delusion to call upon them when their senses have departed, they have left this world, and their souls have ascended to the gardens [of Paradise], or wherever Allah has willed, and their souls have separated from their bodies, while you leave al-Ḥayyu al-Qayyūm! And if the superiority of the Creator over the created being is apparent to you, then on what basis have you permitted equating the Creator and the created being in ʿibādah, for which Allah created creation? Show us a verse or a ḥadīth; you will never find a way to do so. [As-Sayf al-Maslūl ʿalā ʿĀbid al-Rasūl by Shaykh ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim an-Najdī p.32]

#tawḥīd Shaykh ʿAbd Allāh al-Ghunaymān said: But most people think that this is merely pronouncing this word (Shahādatayn), and that if a person pronounces it, then he is a Muslim, even if he does things that contradict it, such as asking the dead, doing ṭawāf around graves, seeking tabarruk from them, and similar acts of shirk; because they believe that this is not shirk, but rather among the acts of drawing near to Allah, and they regard it as a righteous deed. This is an obvious contradiction. That is why he said: “the major matter.” In reality, it is a very major matter, because this statement is what, by its meaning, distinguishes the Muslim from others, and by it tawḥīd is distinguished from shirk. [Sharḥ Kitāb at-Tawḥīd by Shaykh ʿAbd Allāh al-Ghunaymān 1/478]

#tawḥīd Shaykh ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim an-Najdī said: And directing any type of ʿibādah to other than Allah is like directing all of it, because He is the One who is most free of any need for partners. He accepts no deed except that which is sincerely for Him. He said: “So worship Allah, making the religion sincerely for Him.” Thus, He informed us that He does not accept from the religion except that which is sincerely for His sake. And He informed us that the mushrikūn made du‘āʾ to the angels, the prophets, and the righteous, seeking by them to draw closer to Allah and to have them intercede for them with Him. And He informed us that He does not guide one who is a liar and a kāfir. Thus, He declared their claim to be false and takfired them. #reminder The du‘āʾ of Shaykh ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim al-Najdī said: O Allah, grant victory to Your religion, Your Book, Your Messenger, and Your righteous servants. O Allah, make manifest the guidance and the religion of truth which You sent Your Prophet with over all religion, even though the mushrikūn dislike it. O Allah, punish the kuffār and the munāfiqūn who hinder from Your path, alter Your religion, and show enmity toward Your believing servants. O Allah, cause discord amongst them, scatter their hearts, make their destruction within their own planning, and turn upon them the evil consequence. O Allah, send down upon them Your might which cannot be repelled from the criminals. O Allah, forgive the believing men and women, and the Muslim men and women. Bring their hearts together, rectify what is between them, grant them victory over Your enemy and their enemy, guide them to the ways of peace, and bring them out of the darknesses into the light. O Allah, help us and do not help against us. Guide us and make guidance easy for us. Grant us victory over whoever transgresses against us. O Allah, make us grateful, remembering, deeply humble, turning to You, sincere to You, peaceful toward Your allies, and at war with Your enemies. We love, for your sake, those who love You, and we show enmity, for your sake, toward whoever opposes You. O Allah, this is the supplication, and You are the who responds; this is the effort, and upon You we rely upon. [As-Sayf al-Maslūl ʿalā ʿĀbid al-Rasūl, by Shaykh ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim al-Najdī p.205–206] ══════════ May Allah grant this du‘āʾ. May Allah destroy those who have infiltrated the religion and wish to nullify it. May Allah grant guidance to those sincere amongst them, but have been mislead due to confusion spread by the liars, and may Allah destroy those, and make them amongst the people of the fire whose heart is filled with desire amongst them, who call to the Islām of the mushrikīn, justifying and defending their Islām and attempting to refute the words of Allah! And this du‘āʾ was the conclusion of the book of shaykh ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Qāsim against his opponent from amongst the mushrikīn, who wished to make those who call to shirk, Muslim.
