The issue is not merely about one individual but reflects the tension between traditional family control and modern individual autonomy, especially in patriarchal and status-conscious societies. Conflict Theory (Marx): Family acts as a mechanism to preserve property, power, and social status. Symbolic Interactionism: An "obedient daughter" becomes a symbol of family prestige. Feminist Perspective: Highlights unequal power relations and control over women's bodies and life choices. Weber – Traditional Authority: Parents exercise authority based on customs and traditions rather than rational consent. Bourdieu – Social Capital: Marriage is used to maintain family networks, prestige, and economic interests. Individualization (Ulrich Beck): Modern youth seek self-choice, creating conflict with traditional family values.
