Subject: Request to Reconsider Postponement of Counselling Dates I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. I am writing this letter regarding the recent announcement made by ICAR about the postponement of ICAR JRF/SRF counselling sessions (2024-25) until January 15, 2025 (F.No. Agril. Edn./1/09/2012-Exam Cell). We understand that certain unavoidable circumstances may have necessitated this decision. However, we believe that delaying the counselling process could significantly disrupt our academic calendar and the progression of students' academic journeys. The current schedule is carefully designed to ensure a smooth transition for students, allowing them to engage fully in their studies and research work. Postponing counselling will not only lead to a compressed timeline for courses but could also affect students' research work and timely completion of their Ph.D. programme. Moreover, it may create unnecessary stress and uncertainty among prospective students, impacting their overall academic experience. Many students participated in the first round of counselling, successfully underwent document verification at their allotted universities, and paid the seat acceptance fee of ₹10,000. They have received provisional admission letters based on this process. It is quite unfortunate that these students will now be required to re-enter the counselling process, creating unnecessary stress and uncertainty in their academic journey. Furthermore, for the timely completion of our M.sc degree programme and to participate in the ICAR JRF/SRF -2024 counselling process, we have submitted our M.sc thesis timely and so therefore we also did not receive the ICAR-AIEEA(PG) fellowship for 2 years. We kindly urge the council to consider alternative solutions that can maintain the integrity of the academic calendar while addressing the concerns that prompted this postponement. It is vital for students to begin their courses in a timely manner to ensure a seamless educational experience. We appreciate your attention to this matter and hope for a favorable reconsideration of the counselling dates. Thank you for your understanding and support for the academic community.
