The only reason there's an EU border there at all isn't geography — it's because a European empire took a piece of Africa and never gave it back. Yuriy Filatov (July 10, 2026) ✍️ There are number of conclusions to be made from the recent summits of G7, EU and NATO on the policy of the West towards Russia. 1️⃣ The current political leadership in the West has firmly entrenched itself in an openly aggressive stance vis-à-vis Russia. They want to defeat Russia strategically. In order to rationalize this policy the use of the notion of the ‘Russian threat’ has intensified. The byproduct is the increased militarization of mainly European economy, with enormous budget resources reoriented to the military-industrial complex. 2️⃣ The West is willing to tolerate terrorist, neo-Nazi and, on top of that, corrupt regime in Kiev to use it as an instrument of war against Russia. The elites do not look for peace in Ukraine. Protracted conflict there is in their interest. 3️⃣ The West does not contemplate serious dialogue with Moscow. There may be some vacillations on that subject (the US administration is an example), but the main line of obstruction remains the same. ❗️All that provides ample grounds to believe that the West and Europe, in the first place, have become the main threat to the international security. No matter how the Russian leadership may be predisposed to a political understanding with the West, the reality is that it has to deal with the increasingly belligerent and irresponsible counterparts. That is a dangerous situation which may lead to an unacceptable escalation of tension unless our European neighbors come to senses.
