بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم Concise Words With Great Benefit From Abuu Hurayrah - may Allaah be pleased with him - who said: "That a man came to the Prophet - sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam - and said: 'O Messenger of Allaah! It was so bad I was bitten by a scorpion last night! The Messenger of Allaah said: أَمَا لَوْ قُلْتَ حِينَ أَمْسَيْتَ ‘If only you had said when the evening approached: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allaah from the evil of what He has created. لَمْ تَضُرُّكَ It would not have done any harm to you.'" [Collected by Muslim, Abuu Daawud, An-Nisaa'ee, Ibn Maajah, Maalik and At-Tirmithee who made it 'hasan'. Shaykh Al-Albaanee authenticated it in 'Saheeh Targheeb Wat-Tarheeb' Vol.1, No. 652, Pg. 412] From Khawlah bint Hakeem As-Sulamiyyah, may Allaah be pleased with her, who said, "I heard the Messenger of Allaah - salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam - saying: إِذَا نَزَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْزِلاً فَلْيَقُلْ 'Whoever stops at a place on his journey and then says: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allaah from the evil of what He has created. فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَضُرُّهُ شَىْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ مِنْهُ Nothing will harm him until he leaves that place.'" Shaykh Al-Albaanee authenticated it in 'Saheeh Jaamia' As-Sagheer' Vol.1, No. 6567, Pg.1118] Ash-Shaykh 'Abdur-Razzaaq Al-Badr, may Allaah preserve him, said: "Nothing whatsoever harms him, because he has been protected by Allaah’s protection. However, this supplication is conditional just like all other supplications in that it is necessary to have the correct intention, to have good trust in Allaah, 'Azza wa Jal, and that a person should be regular in reading this supplication, in every place that he may stop in." عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ حَكِيمٍ السُّلَمِيَّةِ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏ إِذَا نَزَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْزِلاً فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ‏.‏ فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَضُرُّهُ شَىْءٌ حَتَّى يَرْتَحِلَ مِنْهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ Khawlah bint Hakim As-Sulamiyyah رضي الله عنها narrated that she the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وسلم as saying: When any one of you stays at a place, he should say:" I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah from the evil of that He created." Nothing would then do him any harm until he moves from that place. عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَقِيتُ مِنْ عَقْرَبٍ لَدَغَتْنِي الْبَارِحَةَ قَالَ ‏"‏ أَمَا لَوْ قُلْتَ حِينَ أَمْسَيْتَ أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ لَمْ تَضُرُّكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه narrated that a person came to the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وسلم and said: " Allah's Messenger, I was stung by a scorpion during the night. She needs it more Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said: Allaah, the Exalted, said: “And you were not with them when they cast their pens (to draw lots) as to which of them should be responsible for Maryam.” [Āl ʿImrān: 44] So this Maryam (عليها السلام) needed someone to take care of her and look after her to the extent that they drew lots to decide who would be her guardian. Then how about other women besides her? This is something known by experience: a woman is in need of protection and safeguarding more than a boy is. 𝗥𝘂𝗾𝘆𝗮𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 (127) The Story of the Man Who Afflicted His Daughter with the Evil Eye A father returned home at night and knocked on the door. His daughter, about ten years old, opened for him. When he looked at her, he was struck by her beauty and said to her: “O fortune, whose daughter are you?” That very night, the girl fell gravely ill, suffering from diarrhea and vomiting until she passed away. She was buried the following morning. There is no power and no strength except through Allāh. The one who afflicts with the evil eye may in fact be among the closest to you without you realising it—whether a father, a mother, a brother, a sister, or others. Therefore, this should not be considered strange, for it is a reality. For this reason, whenever I recite over someone afflicted by the evil eye, I encourage his family members to wash for him, as well as his friends and neighbors, so that he may bathe with that water.
