Ukraine's General Staff Confirms Strike on Novatek Gas Processing Complex in Russia's Leningrad Region Ukraine's General Staff confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck the Novatek-Ust-Luga production and transshipment complex in Slobodka, Leningrad region, Russia, during an overnight operation on August 14. According to the General Staff, a fire was reported at the facility and two processing units were hit, although the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. Novatek-Ust-Luga is a major industrial complex designed to fractionate and process stable gas condensate. The facility has an annual processing capacity of nearly 8 million tons of raw material.

Ukraine's Drone Forces Strike 240 Energy Facilities in Occupied Territories in Two Weeks — "Madyar" Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) struck 29 energy facilities in temporarily occupied territories in a single day, USF Commander Col. The list includes oil tankers transporting Russian crude oil and petroleum products from Black Sea and Baltic ports on behalf of companies including Lukoil, Rosneft, Surgutneftegaz, Novatek, Tatneft and Gazprom. It also includes bulk carriers used to transport agricultural products from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories through the ports of Berdiansk, Sevastopol, Kerch and Feodosia.

Russia Builds Shadow Fleet to Transport LNG Ahead of EU Ban — Intelligence Russia is accelerating the creation of a shadow fleet of LNG carriers as it prepares for the European Union's full ban on Russian liquefied natural gas imports, which is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027, according to Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service. The intelligence agency said the Kremlin is buying aging LNG carriers on the secondary market while also putting the first domestically built vessels into service. More than 65% of Russia's LNG production comes from Novatek's Yamal LNG and sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 projects, while another roughly 30% is supplied by Gazprom's Sakhalin-2. China remains the main buyer of LNG from Arctic LNG 2. According to analysts cited by the intelligence service, its cargoes are currently transported by 11 vessels with an average age of about 10 years.
