83 years ago, on this day, the official decision was proclaimed to establish the Galicia Division (the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division). The number of volunteers willing to defend their land with arms was so great that a shortage of labor arose in the District of Galicia, and recruitment had to be limited. Inspired by the belief in achieving independence from the Soviet Union, our ancestors stood at the forefront of the struggle against Moscow’s imperialism, finding an ally in the form of a united Europe under the aegis of the Reich. Today, we follow in their path, resisting the Russian onslaught with the help of Europe and recalling how they fought in an effort to prevent the bloody war we are waging now. Glory to Ukraine! ꑭ Volksfront | Boost | Admin

Two days ago marked the 85th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH). For Ukrainians of that era, Croatia’s example was living proof that independent statehood could be achieved through cooperation and the help of the Third Reich. The archives of the Ukrainian press from the 1940s preserve numerous accounts of our ancestors' empathy for the struggle of their Balkan brothers. Today, we echo their sentiments and extend our warmest congratulations to the Croatian people on this historic occasion. The original text: "The Croatian people celebrate many national and state festivities, yet none reflect the depth of feeling and the vital energy of a young state awakened to a new life as profoundly as April 10th. And no wonder! For along with the birth of spring, the Croatian people celebrate the rebirth of their own statehood—a victory over tyranny and a triumph over the violence inflicted upon them for the past two decades by their "Yugoslav brothers" against everything Croatian. ...For our part, we can only congratulate our brother Croats on their great national holiday and wish that their great Poglavnik leads the Independent State of Croatia along the path of prosperity, glory, and greatness." Ukrainskyi Visnyk (Ukrainian Herald), No. 9 (108), Berlin, April 2, 1943. ꑭ Volksfront | Boost | Admin

🇩🇪 The Defence of the Führerbunker: Croat SS men In Berlin 🇭🇷 "It was estimated that the Russians would overrun the bunker by May 1. A nearby bridge was being defended by youngsters of the Hitler Youth, and heavy fighting elsewhere was by SS units largely composed of Ukrainians, Romanians, Bulgarians, Hungarians, and Croats, ... who had reasoned that it was better to die in battle than in a Russian slave camp." 📄🔗: Paul Manning — Martin Bormann, page 171 🖼️🔗: SS-Obergruppenführer and General of the Waffen-SS, Felix Martin Julius Steiner commander of the III (Germanic) SS Panzer Corps during the Battle for Berlin. 𐀏 Volksfront | Boost | Admin

In the magazine of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) “Homin Ukrainy”, dated January 23, 1960, an article was published about Ante Pavelić and his death. We will quote a few excerpts from the article: “On December 28, 1959, the heart of the former head of the Croatian State (1941-1945) and a great supporter of Ukraine and other peoples enslaved by Moscow, Dr. Ante Pavelić, stopped beating. He died not in his native Croatia, for whose independence he fought, but in the Spanish capital of Madrid, where he arrived after long adventures from Argentina.” "While still alive, he became a symbol of the fight for the freedom of Croatia, which is why the enemy tried to destroy him. On April 10, 1957, on the anniversary of the Croatian Nationalist Party, founded by Dr. Ante Starčević. He became the party's secretary general, and after Dr. Starčević's death, he became its president. In 1927, he was elected as a representative in the Zagreb constituency of the Yugoslav parliament in Belgrade. In his first parliamentary speech, Ante Pavelić declared that as a Croat he did not recognize the legitimacy of the Serbo-Croatian-Slovene kingdom and that he would use the parliamentary rostrum exclusively to fight for an independent Croatian state. When the Serbs killed three Croatian representatives in 1921 [*1928], the Croatian faction left the parliament, stating that it had no opportunity to democratically fight for the freedom of Croatia in a parliamentary forum. In the same year, Ante Pavelić formed the Croatian Revolutionary Movement, which later united all nationally healthy elements in the fight for national liberation." "Ante Pavelić, the head of state, led his people in the fight against Tito's communist units, which were trying to restore Serbian hegemony, this time in the form of communist Yugoslavia. After the capitulation of Germany on May 5, 1945, the Croatian troops were left without weapons and ammunition. Ante Pavelić, at a certain independence, was assassinated by Tito's agents in Buenos Aires. Two bullets lodged in his spine, which could not be removed. For more than two years he fought death, which came on the morning of December 28, 1959. On December 31, 1959, Ante Pavelić was buried in Madrid's Sacramental de San Isidro cemetery. The coffin was wrapped in the national Croatian flag, decorated with hundreds of wreaths sent from all over the world, wherever Croatian exiles had gone. Among them were wreaths from the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists. The funeral was attended by Ante Pavelić's associates and followers from Germany, Austria, France, Canada and other countries. Hundreds of telegrams spoke of the great honors the deceased enjoyed among his countrymen and foreigners." "The funeral oration was delivered by Prof. Dr. Andrija Ilić, Minister of the Croatian Government in Exile and a close associate of Ante Pavelić. The second speaker was Mr. Volodimir Pastuščuk, who in Spanish forgave the deceased from the ABN and OUN. He said: In a few minutes the Spanish soil will cover the body of the greatest of the three among the Croats. The Red assassins killed his body, but his spirit and his ideas of freedom and national dignity will live among us. Ante Pavelić teaches us to love our homelands and to be faithful to our national ideals. He gave his life for his brothers and friends as proof of the highest love. This grave must become a warning sign for those who seek peace... "We, Ukrainians, understand the pain of our Croatian brothers, because only two months ago we had the misfortune to lose, thanks to that same criminal communist hand, the leader of our liberation movement, the unretired s.l. p. Stepan Bandera." "With the death of Ante Pavelić, the Croatian people lose their great leader, and our family of enslaved peoples one of the best strategists of the anti-communist struggle." @RareNDHpics
