What to do when the cement doesn't reach the surface? Simply, we can Top-Up the cement using small diameter tubing by running it into the anulus and pump the cement slurry. Although this technique is not always efficient, but It can achieve the objective. #Ahmed_Ezhairi
🏗️ Well Abandonment Cementing: How to Plug a Well for Good? 🛢️ Cementing is the "security seal" that prevents gas and oil leaks after a well is depleted. 📍 Key Plugs: 1️⃣ Production Plug: Isolates the oil reservoir at the bottom. 2️⃣ Protection Plug: Isolates groundwater layers to prevent their contamination. 3️⃣ Surface Plug: The final seal of the well before its steel head is cut. ✅ Testing (to ensure isolation): • Weight (Tagging): Confirms the cement's hardness and position. • Pressure: Confirms there is no gas leakage. ⚠️ Material: High-resistance cement (Class G) is used to last hundreds of years under high pressure and temperature.
