Without that PAPER, without the value unit called “USD”, Circle got nothing left to put up as collateral. No “backing asset” in sight. The blockchain just becomes an empty ledger scribbling down numbers that mean absolutely nothing. Now flip it, imagine a world with zero USDC. PAPER dollars can still get printed no problem. People can still buy their bread with actual cash. The government can still pay civil servants with checks or bank transfers denominated in USD. The world’s financial system doesn’t crash and burn. This is the deepest difference right here:  -  PAPER dollars can straight up create themselves through a sovereign decision.   -  USDC can’t create itself at all. It can only “borrow” its existence from the dollar. So yeah, even though today 1 USDC equals 1 USD, the PAPER (or at least the real fiat concept of USD) is way more valuable at the core. ‘Cause without it, USDC is just empty data pretending to be money. USD is the actual $PAPER. USDC is just the $PAPER shadow on a digital wall. And a shadow ain’t ever worth more than the $PAPER that made it exist.
