OPEN CALL: Seeking Curator for Contour 11 📍Mechelen, Belgium Deadline: March 31. 2025, 10am CET As Contour steps into its 11th edition, it enters a phase of transformation. A new organizational structure marks not just a shift in approach but also an opportunity to rethink the essence of what a biennale can be. Sustainability, in every sense, takes center stage: how do we develop formats that endure without stagnation, that challenge conventions while remaining porous and responsive? What does it mean to gather, and can we question the temporalities of exhibition-making? How do international and local dimensions converge and connect with a diverse audience? This next phase for Contour is a call to reflect on the urgency of building a sustainable platform for audiovisual arts, with a commitment to site-specificity. Contour 11 does not arrive with a fixed blueprint but with the open question: How can we sustain critical art practices and how can a biennale not only reflect the world but also contribute to positive change? This edition will adopt a small-scale approach in an effort to rethink the future of Contour and relaunch the biennale. The curator of Contour Biennale 11 will shape its concept, content, and form and steer the biennale into new territories of engagement. We are looking for a curator with a strong affinity for moving images who will develop a concept that will strengthen the biennale from a place of care, based on a sustained dialogue with the group that re-established the biennale in 2024. This process of exploration and collaboration will happen in conversation with the biennale’s general and artistic director. ▸ More info

Women by Women: A Global Open Call by PhotoVogue It’s that time — the launch of our PhotoVogue Global Open Call. But this year, we ask: What does it mean to see as a woman? To reclaim vision. To reshape narratives. To affirm existence on our own terms. The illusion of linear progress — the belief that rights, visibility, and recognition are irrevocable — has been shattered by the current political climate. Around the world, we are witnessing increasing pushback against women’s autonomy, reminding us that what once seemed secure can also be taken away. Now more than ever, we must ask: How do women carve out space for their perspectives? Representation isn’t just visibility—it’s resistance, a tool for change. The Female Gaze was a necessary response to the Male Gaze, but is it still enough? Tied to binary opposition, it risks reinforcing the very structures it aimed to dismantle. Today’s feminist and critical theories move beyond rigid categories, embracing fluidity, intersectionality, and self-definition. This open call follows that path, inviting photographers, videomakers, and multimedia artists across all genres— from fashion to documentary, portraiture, fine art, and beyond — to explore the limitless ways women represent themselves and each other. - Photography | Video | Multimedia projects - Submissions March 18 - June 1 on Picter - Free & open worldwide to all women and those who identify with womanhood - $12,000 in grants - Vogue publication opportunities - Showcase at the next PhotoVogue Festival - PhotoVogue Virtual Portfolio Reviews opportunities 🌺 Submit
