People fought but Rockefeller Medicine and the AMA were overwhelming. The false germ theory was pushed through. They renamed polio when that one was getting too obvious. All the disease rate graphs show improvements in nutrition, indoor plumbing/better washing/living conditions (so to avoid fleas, bed bugs, feces, other bugs, filth on the skin clogging pores, living in stench) were rapidly reducing "disease" rates (really not disease at all, just the body desperate to cleanse itself) LONG before the introduction of vaccines. And if you follow those charts further, you see a spike in disease rates after their introduction (and slews of very angry parents and protests to follow, I can only imagine how much of it scrubbed from the record if the censorship today is any relation).
