Some people are afraid of practicing English because they don't want to hear how "bad" their English sometimes can be. But it's all the part of being a human. The way we communicate is sometimes very messy. We forget words, we misuse idioms, we brake grammar. We tend to think that our speaking practice only counts when we speak perfectly. In fact, it counts every single time, no matter how clumsy and unpolished it sounds to us.
Conventional = Usual, traditional, not experimental "It's too risky to experiment with the new technology. I would use something more conventional" It's better to use more traditional technology, something that we understand better
It's important to learn how to talk about difficult topics that you have never talked about before even in your native language. It prepares you for unexpected situations during challenging conversations and brings your ability to choose the right words to the whole next level

Obligatory = something that you must do because it's a rule "It's obligatory to have your driver's license with you when you drive a car" You must have your driver's license, it's a rule.
