*MONDAY, AUGUST 17TH 2026.* *TWENTIETH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR II.* *FIRST READING* “Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign,’ according to all that he has done you shall do.” *A reading from the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel (EZEKIEL 24: 15 - 24)* The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man; behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep nor shall your tears run down. Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners.” So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died. And on the next morning I did as I was commanded. And the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are acting thus?” Then I said to them, “The word of the Lord came to me: ‘Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the desire of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword. And you shall do `as I have done; you shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of mourners. Your turbans shall be on your heads and your shoes on your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but you shall pine away in your iniquities and groan to one another. Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD. ”’ *The Word of the Lord.* *RESPONSORIAL PSALM* Taken from Deuteronomy 32: 18 - 19, 20, 21 (R.) 18b And the response is; *R/. You forgot God who gave you birth.* You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth. The Lord saw it, and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters. *R/.* And he said, “I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end will be, for they are a perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.” *R/.* “They have stirred me to jealousy with what is no god; they have provoked me with their idols. So I will stir them to jealousy with those who are no people; I will provoke them with a foolish nation.” *R/.* *GOSPEL ACCLAMATION* Matthew 5: 3 *Alleluia.* Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. *Alleluia.* *GOSPEL* “If you would be perfect, sell what you possess, and you will have treasure in heaven. ” *A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (MATTHEW 19: 16 - 22)* At that time: Behold, one came up to Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?” And he said to him “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” He said to him, Which?” And Jesus said, “You shall not kill, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honour your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” The young man said to him, “All these I have observed; what do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions. *The Gospel of the Lord.*

  • *SUNDAY, AUGUST 16TH 2026.* *TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A.* *FIRST READING* “And the foreigners I will bring to my holy mountain.” *A reading from the Book of Isaiah (ISAIAH 56: 1, 6 - 7)* Thus says the LORD: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed. “And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, every one who keeps the Sabbath, and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant – these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” *The Word of the Lord.* *RESPONSORIAL PSALM* Taken from Psalm 67: 2 - 3, 5, 6, 8 (R.) 4 And the response is; *R/. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!* O God, be gracious and bless us And let your face shed its lights upon. So will your ways be known upon earth and all nations learn your salvation. *R/.* Let the nations be glad and shout for joy, with uprightness you rule the peoples; you guide the nations on earth. *R/.* Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. May God still give us his blessing That all the ends of the earth may revere him. *R/.* *SECOND READING* “The gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.” *A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans (ROMANS 11: 13 - 15, 29 - 32)* Brethren: I am speaking to you Gentiles. In as much then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. Just as you were once disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may receive mercy. For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that he may have mercy upon all. *The Word of the Lord.* *GOSPEL ACCLAMATION* Matthew 4: 23 *Alleluia.* Jesus was preaching the Gospel of the kingdom and healing every infirmity among the people. *Alleluia.* *GOSPEL* “O woman, great is your faith!” *A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (MATTHEW 15: 21 - 28)* At that time: Jesus went away and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon.” But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away, for she is crying after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And he answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly. *The Gospel of the Lord.*

  • He has shown strength with his arm, he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts, he has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever.” And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her home. *The Gospel of the Lord.*

  • *SATURDAY, AUGUST 15TH 2026.* *THE NINETEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR II.* *THE SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY.* *FIRST READING* “A woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet.” *A reading from the Book of Revelation (REVELATION 11: 19a; 12: 1 - 6a, 10ab)* God’s temple in heaven was opened. And a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery. And another sign appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads. His tails wept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come.” *The Word of the Lord.* *RESPONSORIAL PSALM* Taken from Psalm 45: 10, 11, 12, 16 (R.) 10b And the response is; *R/. On your right stands the queen in gold of Ophir.* The daughters of kings are those whom you favour. On your tight stands the queen in gold of Ophir. *R/.* Listen, O daughter; pay heed and give ear; forget your own people and your father’s house. *R/.* So will the king desire your beauty. He is your lord, pay homage to him. *R/.* They are escorted amid gladness and joy; they pass within the palace of the king. *R/.* *SECOND READING* “Christ the first fruits, then those who belong to Christ.” *A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (1 CORINTHIANS 15: 20 - 27)* Brethren: Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For a sin Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. “For God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” *The word of the Lord.* *GOSPEL ACCLAMATION* *Alleluia.* Mary has been taken up into heaven; the host of angels rejoices. *Alleluia.* *GOSPEL* “He who is mighty has done great things for me, he has exalted those of low degree.” *A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (LUKE 1: 39 - 56)* In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation.

  • but one. What therefore God has joined together, .let no man put asunder.” They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?” He said to them, “For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries a divorced woman, commits adultery.” The disciples said to him, “If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.” But he said to them, “Not all men can receive this precept, but only those to whom it is given. For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it.” *The Gospel of the Lord.*

  • *FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH 2026.* *NINETEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR II.* *THE MEMORIAL OF SAINT MAXIMILIAN MARY KOLBE, PRIEST & MARTYR.* *FIRST READING* Your beauty was perfect through the splendour which I had bestowed upon you; but you played the harlot. *A reading from the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel (EZEKIEL 16: 1 - 15, 60, 63)* The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations, and say, Thus says the Lord God to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are of the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite, and your mother a Hittite. And as for your birth, on the day you were born your navel string was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor rubbed with salt, nor swathed with bands. No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you out of compassion for you; but you were cast out on the open field, for you were abhorred, on the day that you were born. “And when I passed by you, and saw you weltering in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live, and grow up like a plant to the field.’ And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full maidenhood; your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare. When I passed by you again and looked upon you, behold, you were at the age for love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I pledged myself to you and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord God, and you became mine. Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you, and anointed you with oil. I clothed you also with embroidered cloth and shod you with leather, I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk. And I decked you with ornaments, and put bracelets on your arms, and a chain on your neck. And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head. Thus you were decked with gold and silver; and your clothing was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered cloth; you ate fine flour and honey and oil. You grew exceedingly beautiful, and came to regal estate. And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendour which I had bestowed upon you, says the Lord GOD. “But you trusted in your beauty, and played the harlot because of your renown, and lavished your harlotries on any passer-by. Yet I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish with you an everlasting covenant, that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I forgive you all that you have done, says the Lord God.” *The Word of the Lord.* *RESPONSORIAL PSALM* Taken from Isaiah 12: 2 - 3, 4bcde, 5 - 6 (R.) 1de And the response is; *R/. Your anger turned away and you comforted me.* “Behold God is my salvation, I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. *R/.* “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name; make known his deeds among the nations proclaim that his name is exalted.” *R/.* “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Sion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.” *R/.* *GOSPEL ACCLAMATION* 1 Thessalonians 2: 13 *Alleluia.* Accept the word of God, not as the word of men, but as what it really is, the word of God. *Alleluia.* *GOSPEL* For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. *A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (MATTHEW 19: 3 - 12)* At that time: Pharisees came up to Jesus and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one’? So they are no longer two
