Also, most of the illiterates unqualified evaluators are awarding marks based on strict model answers. (And btw, this test was conducted recently for upcoming mains after prelims result 🙂 ) So, DONT worry about marks in a particular test. You are doing great. Just focus on these 3 core principles, and I'm sure you are crossing 420+ in GS 1st. Finishing paper in 3 hours time frame 2nd. Hit the demand of the question 3rd. Follow structure and sub headings . Leave everything aside and first finish the PYQs brainstorming on pen and paper ➡ Do the same for Institute FLTs ( target at least 5 for each subject) ➡ Go and write minimum 2 FLTs for every subject. Note No. 7 : For Mains 2026 Junta GRIT - Single most important trait that separates among the equals. Mains is THE STAGE OF UPSC. The more you grind, the more you reap. The better you grind, the better you reap. Some Practical Tips for Mains : 1. Less is More - Wrt Content. Read concise content multiple times. 2. More is less - Wrt Writing practise. Write daily, evolve daily. 3. Don't just play the game, play the man. - Evaluators are human, thus "Jo dikhta hai, wo bikta hai." 4. Note making - It's a losing game. Outsource it as much as possible. 5. Mentorship - It works. But only if your mentor knows the way to outscore and out pace everyone. Free Mentorship programs do exist, but beware while choosing them. The cost of money may be paid by the cost of time. 6. Essay - The larger the crowd a teacher caters to, lower will be the mean score of the students of that teacher. Essay demands humanization, naturality and creativity. If you outscore this, you become someone else. Take reviews lightly. 7. Ethics - Most mechanisable paper. Must mechanise, particularly the case studies. It will always be lengthy, so train accordingly. 8. 1st attempt or 1st Mains people - You always have a better chance at this, than you think you have. 9. Delusional trap - Unlike Prelims prep, you can't solely self evaluate yourself. You need benchmarking and a visit at your sheet from 3rd person's view, to avoid being "koop ke mandook." ~ 75 days. The main reason is not hitting the demand of the question in multidimensional way. When we write only what we know, rather than what's actually the demand of the question , we end up getting a below average score. So how do you improve this? Analyse ,brainstorm, write PYQs - feed to a well trained AI - take feedback from genuine mentors- analyse -rewrite - Repeat the process. When you are thorough with this process then only proceed with the other adventures, like diagrams, case studies etc.

Do u want to stay in this cycle.. ?? If yes, then start for mains without even looking at your prelims performance. If not, then delete the telegram and disappear from this world completely. Keep moving forward, no matter where you think you stand.
