Reviving Shem, the son of Noah – one of the great miracles of Jesus (peace be upon him) In historical narrations and books of tafsīr such as those of Ibn Kathīr and al-Thaʿlabī, it is mentioned that when Jesus (peace be upon him) spread the message of monotheism among the Children of Israel, his enemies continued to raise doubts. They said: “You only revive those who have recently died; perhaps they were merely unconscious!” (Earlier pages have mentioned several other revived dead.) To refute this doubt, they demanded an impossible miracle: reviving someone who had been dead for thousands of years. For this purpose, they chose Shem, the son of Noah, who according to historical estimations had died nearly 2,000 years earlier at that time. Jesus (peace be upon him) went toward the grave of Shem, which was said to be near Jerusalem. There, the Prophet of Allāh, with complete certainty, turned toward the sky and supplicated in the Great Name of Allāh, asking that the truth be made manifest to the arrogant deniers. When Jesus (peace be upon him) called out: “Rise by the permission of Allāh,” the earth shook and split open. A man emerged from the grave whose hair and beard were half white. This astonished those present, because Shem had died at the age of six hundred, with black hair, and in that era the whitening of hair was either unknown or extremely rare. Jesus (peace be upon him) asked: “O Shem, why has your hair turned white?” Shem replied trembling: “When I heard your voice, I thought it was the sound of the Trumpet announcing the Day of Resurrection. Out of the immense fear of that Day, my hair turned white in that brief moment.” To silence the skeptics, Shem related details that no one else could have known. He spoke of the Great Flood, and described the Ark of his father Noah (peace be upon him): • The Ark had three levels: • one for wild animals, • one for humans, • and one for birds. • He described their life aboard the Ark and their settling upon Mount Judi. Shem, who had remained in the realm of Barzakh for two thousand years, delivered a powerful message. He said: “Despite having been dead for two thousand years, the bitterness and pain of the agony of death still remain in my throat, and I have not forgotten them.” When Christ (peace be upon him) gave him the choice of returning to worldly life, Shem refused and said: “I do not wish to experience the pain of death again.” Then, by the supplication of Jesus (peace be upon him), he returned to his grave and became dust once more, and the earth closed over him. ⸻ Writing & research: our brother, Shahram Barzanji Book: Jinōka u Mrov (The Jinn and The Man) Reviewed by: Shaykh Hallo Muhammad Rashid

Imām al-Bukhārī narrates: Abu Jaʿfar narrated: I heard al-Ḥasan ibn Mūsā al-Ashyab mention the Jahmiyyah, and he spoke harshly against them. Then he said: “A head figure among the zanādiqah (heretics), called Shamghalah, was brought before al-Mahdī. Al-Mahdī said to him: ‘Point me to your companions.’ He replied: ‘My companions are more than that.’ He said: ‘Then point them out to me.’ So he said: *‘They are two groups among those who claim the Qiblah: the Jahmiyyah and the Qadariyyah. The Jahmī, when he goes to extremes, says: “There is nothing there,”* — and al-Ashyab gestured toward the sky. And the Qadarī, when he goes to extremes, says: “There are two creators: a creator of good and a creator of evil.”’ So al-Mahdī ordered his execution, and he was beheaded and crucified.” 📚 Khalq Af’āl al-‘Ibād of al-Bukhārī

  • Imām al-Ājurrī says: It is said to the Qadarī: O one that satan has played with, O one who denies that Allāh has created the evil, Isn’t Iblīs the foundation of every evil? Hasn’t Allāh created him? Hasn’t Allāh created the demons and Sent them upon those whom He wants so they misguide him from the path of guidance? So what evidence you have O Qadarī? Then Imām mentions these verses: وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُۥ شَيْطَـٰنًۭا فَهُوَ لَهُۥ قَرِينٌۭ And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ And indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided. (43:36-37) أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّۭا Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them [to evil] with [constant] incitement? (19:83) 📚 ash-Sharī’ah of al-Ājurrī 1/653

  • Imām al-Ājurrī says: And whoever says “Īmān is speech without actions”, It is said to him: You have rejected the Qur’ān, and the Sunnah, and what that the scholars have consensus upon, And you have exited from the statement of the Muslims, And you have committed Kufr to The Great Allāh. 📚 ash-Sharī’ah of al-Ājurrī 1/372 📝 this is a clear cut Takfīr of the Murji’ah, including people like Abū Hanīfah. Even tho Takfīring Murji’at al-Fuqahā’ is an issue of dispute, but Imām al-Ājurrī clearly Takfīrs them.

  • There is no difference between the Jahmiyyah and the Ashʿarīs; except that the Jahmiyyah are explicit males who openly state their doctrine, while the Ashʿarīs are effeminate, disguising and obscuring matters for the common people and the ignorant. — ʿAbdullāh ibn Imām Aḥmad said: “I asked my father about one who says that when Allah spoke to Mūsā, He did not speak with a voice — (the statement of the Ashʿarīs). My father said: Allāh spoke with a voice; these people are disbelievers who want to deceive the people.” 📚 as-Sunnah by ʿAbdullāh ibn Aḥmad (no. 518) — Al-Marwazī said: “I heard Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, and it was said to him: ʿAbd al-Wahhāb says: whoever claims that Allāh spoke to Mūsā without a voice (the statement of the Ashʿarīs that Allāh speaks without a voice), then he is a Jahmī, an enemy of Allāh, an enemy of Islam. Aḥmad said: How excellent is what he said.” 📚 Darʾ Taʿāruḍ al-ʿAql wa an-Naql (2/39) — Abū Jaʿfar Aḥmad ibn Sinān (the shaykh of al-Bukhārī) said: “Whoever claims that the Qurʾān is a mere narration or quotation (the doctrine of the Ashʿarīs), then by Allāh besides whom there is no deity, he is a heretical disbeliever in Allāh.” 📚 Ikhtiṣāṣ al-Qurʾān by al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī — Ibn al-Ḥanbalī said: “The Jahmiyyah — may Allāh curse them — are of various types… and among them is a group that says it is a narration of that Qurʾān.” 📚 al-Risālah al-Wāḍiḥah #Asharis_Are_Kuffar

  • Texts that the compromisers do not show you: Ibn Taymiyyah said: “Al-Ashʿarī, in that matter, followed the Jahmiyyah and the Muʿtazilah who denied that actions subsist in Him, exalted is He; except that those (Muʿtazilah and Jahmiyyah) also deny the attributes, unlike the Ashʿarīs.” 📚 Minhāj al-Sunnah (2/390) He also said: “It has thus become clear that these people — meaning the later Ashʿarīs — in reality and inwardly are Muʿtazilī Jahmīs who negate (the attributes), even if outwardly they present themselves as people of affirmation. Just as the Muʿtazilah, upon close examination, are in reality heretics who deny the Names and Attributes altogether, even though they outwardly claim to refute such people. And the heretics, in reality, are those who deny the Creator altogether. This, by my life, is the truth upon careful examination.” 📚 Bayān Talbīs al-Jahmiyyah (4/401) He also said: “The majority of what the Salaf and the Imams condemned and criticized the Muʿtazilah for — regarding speech that contradicts the Book, the Sunnah, and the early consensus — you have an even greater share of it. Rather, at times you are more opposed to that than the Muʿtazilah themselves. You have shared with them the very foundations of misguidance by which they departed from the Salaf of the Ummah and its Imams, and by which they cast the Book of Allāh behind their backs …” Then he said: “You are partners with them in all of these foundations; from them you took them, and you are their offshoots in this regard — as it is said: ‘The Ashʿarīs are the effeminate offspring of the Muʿtazilah, and the Muʿtazilah are the effeminate offspring of the philosophers.’ But when the corruption of the Muʿtazilite doctrine became widespread in the Ummah and hearts turned away from them, you began to outwardly refute them in some places, while in reality you are close to them or in agreement with them.” 📚 Al-Fatāwā al-Kubrā (5/324) Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ḥasan said: “This group that ascribes itself to Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ashʿarī described the Lord of the Worlds with the attributes of non-existence and negation. Indeed, they committed a tremendous slander against Allāh and opposed the people of truth among the Salaf, the Imams, and their followers…” Then he said: “This deviant group has unleashed its devils to turn people away from the path of Allāh. They denied the oneness of Allāh in worship, and permitted the shirk that Allāh does not forgive — allowing that others besides Him may be worshiped — and they denied the oneness of His attributes through negation. The Imams of Ahl al-Sunnah and their followers have well-known works refuting this disbelieving, obstinate group.” 📚 Al-Durar al-Saniyyah (3/208–211) #Asharis_Are_Kuffar

  • We are against the Jahmīs, as we are against the madkhali Tāghūt worshippers. Tawḥīd and the Sunnah are two inseparable matters; neither can exist without the other. One of them is like the foundation—tawḥīd—and the other is like the structure—the Sunnah. Whoever separates between them is seeking to demolish and undo the building. So if you see someone who calls to the books of the Sunnah and the creed of the Salaf, and who defends the tawḥīd of Allāh’s Names and Attributes, yet he makes light of some forms of major shirk—then cast him and his knowledge against the wall and pay him no attention. And if you see someone who calls to tawḥīd, to declaring the polytheists disbelievers, and to not excusing them in major shirk, yet in the chapter of the Names and Attributes he is cowardly, evasive, and pliant to the point that he excuses the imams of the Ashʿarīs and the Jahmiyyah—then cast him and his knowledge against the wall and pay him no attention. As for the one whom Allāh the Most Generous has granted success to combine tawḥīd and the Sunnah and to act upon them both, then I hope well for him and think well of him—and they are few indeed. They are few in number, yet great in rank with Allāh. We ask Allāh for steadfastness upon tawḥīd and the Sunnah, without altering or replacing them.

  • Shaykh al-Mujaddid Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb رحمه الله said: “Whoever denies the (divine) attributes is a negator (muʿaṭṭil), and the negator is worse than the polytheist. For this reason, the Salaf used to name their writings on affirming the attributes as Books of Tawḥīd. Al-Bukhārī concluded his Ṣaḥīḥ with this, entitling it The Book of Tawḥīd, then mentioning the attributes chapter by chapter. The crux of the issue is that the people of philosophy say: ‘Tawḥīd is not complete except by denying the attributes.’ Ahl as-Sunnah say: ‘Tawḥīd is not complete except by affirming the attributes, and your so-called tawḥīd is actually negation.’ Because of this, this view led some of them to the denial of the Lord, Exalted and Blessed is He, as is the doctrine of Ibn ʿArabī and Ibn al-Fāriḍ, and groups of people whose number none knows except Allāh.” 📚 ad-Durar as-Saniyyah (1/113)

  • “Mention of affirming the Foot (al-Rijl) for Allāh, Mighty and Majestic, even if the noses of the negating Jahmiyyah are rubbed in humiliation.” Allāh, Mighty and Exalted, says while mentioning what some disbelievers worship besides Him: “Do they have feet with which they walk? Or do they have hands with which they strike? Or do they have eyes with which they see? Or do they have ears with which they hear? Say: Call upon your partners, then plot against me and give me no respite.” (Qur’an 7:195) Imām Ibn Khuzaymah says: Thus our Lord—Glorious and Exalted—is informing us that whoever has no foot, no hand, no eye, and no hearing is like cattle; rather, he is more astray. So the negating Jahmiyyah—who are worse than the Jews, the Christians, and the Magians—are like cattle; rather, more astray. 📚 Kitāb at-Tawḥīd by Ibn Khuzaymah 1/202 #Asharis_Are_Kuffar

  • Speaking about the shaykhs of misguidance and those who oppose the truth: • Imām Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal spoke about more than 3,000 men. He spoke against the people of opinion and their leader, spoke against the Jahmiyyah, the Lafẓiyyah, and the Wāqifah, and declared many specific individuals disbelievers. • Al-Dārimī authored books refuting the opponents, and his main preoccupation was refuting the Jahmiyyah. • Al-Bukhārī wrote Khalq Afʿāl al-ʿIbād, one of the strongest books against the people of negation. • ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Ḥātim authored al-Jarḥ wa al-Taʿdīl, speaking about individuals and their beliefs. • Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn had no other occupation than men: “This one is trustworthy, this one is weak, this one is abandoned, this one is Jahmī, this one is Qadarī.” • Al-Nasāʾī spoke about three thousand men. • Yaḥyā ibn ʿAmmār used to declare the Ashʿarīs disbelievers from the pulpits. • ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī had many confrontations and debates with the Ashʿarīs. These are the imams through whom the Qur’an, ḥadīth, Sunnah, and creed reached us. Did anyone ever dare to say about them: “They did not leave anyone without criticizing him”? The answer is no. Yet when the people of athar and adherence in this time spoke about some Ashʿarīs, the people of innovation shouted at them: “You have not left anyone for us!” And they labeled them Wahhābīs, Khārijite takfīrīs, Ḥaddādīs, extremists, and so on—this is astonishing!
