With every new milestone comes a challenge, and tomorrow marks yet another opportunity for you to prove what years of hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice have prepared you for. Qualification exams have always brought on some anxiety, but remember you have overcome every hurdle that brought you here, and this one will be no different. As you walk into each station, be calm, composed, and trust yourself. Speak with confidence, explain what you know clearly, and don't let nervousness overshadow the knowledge you've spent years building. The examiners are not there to watch you fail, but to see the capable future doctors you have worked so hard to become. Should one station not go as planned, leave it behind and walk into the next with renewed confidence. Every station is a fresh opportunity, and one difficult moment should never define your entire performance. Keep moving forward with optimism and determination. These four days may be demanding, but they are only the final stretch of your incredible journey. Be sure to snack up, hydrate, rest when needed and most importantly encourage one another, because you're all walking the same path together. Our future doctors, only four days stand between you and the title you have worked tirelessly to earn. Four days until you become qualified physicians whom we will proudly call our own. 🩸 Myth vs. Fact | Menstrual Health ❌ Myth “You can’t get pregnant during your period.” ✅ Fact Pregnancy is possible during your period, although the chance is generally lower than at other times in the menstrual cycle. Here’s why: 🧬 Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days. If you have a short menstrual cycle or ovulate earlier than expected, sperm from intercourse during your period may still be alive when an egg is released, making pregnancy possible. Not everyone’s menstrual cycle is the same. Stress, illness, hormonal changes, and naturally irregular cycles can affect when ovulation occurs, making it difficult to predict “safe” days based on bleeding alone. 💡 Take-home message If you want to prevent pregnancy, don’t rely on your period as a “safe” time for unprotected sex. Use a reliable contraceptive method consistently and correctly. 📚 What does the evidence say? The World Health Organization (WHO) states that fertility awareness methods require careful tracking of the menstrual cycle and that cycle length and the timing of ovulation can vary between individuals and from one cycle to another. Because of this variation, pregnancy can occur if unprotected sex takes place during bleeding and ovulation occurs soon afterward. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) also explains that sperm can live in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days, meaning pregnancy is possible if ovulation occurs within that time after intercourse.
