የኢትዮጵያ ሕክምና ማህበር የቀድሞ ፕሬዝዳንት ዶ/ር ጳውሎስ ቁአና አረፉ የኢትዮጵያ የመጀመሪያው የዓይን ሐኪም፣ በዓይን ሕክምና ትምህርትና ስፔሻሊቲ ሥልጠና መስራች እንዲሁም የኢትዮጵያ ሕክምና ማህበርን (EMA) ከ1971 እስከ 1976 በፕሬዝዳንትነት የመሩት ታላቁ የሕክምና ባለሙያ ዶ/ር ጳውሎስ ቁአና በ97 ዓመታቸው ከዚህ ዓለም በሞት ተለዩ። ዶ/ር ጳውሎስ ከሊባኖሱ ቤሩት አሜሪካዊ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በዓይን ሕክምና የተመረቁ የመጀመሪያው ኢትዮጵያዊ ሲሆኑ፣ በ1964 በዳግማዊ ምኒልክ ሆስፒታል ማገልገል ጀመሩ። በ1980 በአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የዓይን ሕክምና ስፔሻሊቲ ፕሮግራምን በማስጀመር ለቀጣዩ ትውልድ የዓይን ሐኪሞች መሠረት ጣሉ። በእሳቸው ጥረት የተጀመረው ይህ ትምህርት ክፍል እስከዛሬ 118 የዓይን ሐኪሞችን አፍርቷል። በተጨማሪም ዶ/ር ጳውሎስ የኢትዮጵያ የዓይን ሕክምና ማህበር እንዲመሠረት ትልቅ አስተዋፅዖ አድርገዋል። ከዚህ በላይም፣ የEMA ፕሬዝዳንት ሆነው በመምራት ለማህበሩና ለሀገራችን የሕክምና ሙያ ዘላቂ አሻራ አሳርፈዋል። የኢትዮጵያ ሕክምና ማህበር በዶ/ር ጳውሎስ ቁአና ህልፈተ ሕይወት የተሰማውን ጥልቅ ሀዘን እየገለጸ፣ ለቤተሰቦቻቸው፣ ወዳጆቻቸው እና ለመላው የሕክምና ማህበረሰብ ፈጣሪ መጽናናትን እንዲሰጥ ይመኛል። የዶ/ር ጳውሎስ ቁአና አስተዋፅዖና አሻራ ለዘላለም ይኖራል።
