13 авг.After looking into this Paks-2 nuclear deal, it appears Viktor Orban signed the deal with Putin in 2014, and it is the largest government investment in Hungarian history. The deal has faced major delays through permitting and the Ukraine war. Opposition factions in 2014 were calling to scrap the deal in favor of a solar alternative (hah!). They were suppose to break ground last November, but that too was delayed. For whatever reason, now that Peter Magyar is PM, progress has accelerated and the project is being fast tracked. The Paks-2 is a major expansion of Hungary’s only nuclear power plant—the Paks plant—which was completed in 1982.
