Based on the information and supporting evidence received, this issue involves a small number of second intake students whose practicum will continue until November. However, they are reportedly only allowed to stay in their mahallah until the end of September. To remain until the completion of their practicum, they are required to pay accommodation fees for an entire semester instead of only the remaining period needed. This raises an important concern: if students are still permitted to stay upon paying for a full semester, does this not indicate that accommodation is still available? If so, why is there no more reasonable arrangement for practicum students who remain active IIUM students and are fulfilling a compulsory academic requirement? The timing of this issue is also concerning, as practicum is expected to begin at the end of July, leaving students with limited time to make financial, accommodation, and transportation arrangements. We have also been informed that the Teaching Practice and Practicum Unit (TPPU) has submitted an appeal to the Residential Services Department (RSD), and we sincerely hope the matter will receive prompt consideration. We respectfully urge the relevant parties to review this issue and work towards a fair, reasonable, and student-friendly solution. Although only a small number of students are affected, their welfare and academic commitments deserve equal attention. We will continue engaging with the relevant authorities while encouraging affected students to share any official updates so that constructive follow-up can continue. Thank you. Key concerns from both male and female students’ surveys, including equipment conditions, cleanliness, and operating hours, were presented and acknowledged by the SDC for further consideration. Among the proposals discussed were extending female gym operating hours, introducing more flexible hours for the male gym, and implementing Mahallah-based gym schedules. However, all suggestions remain under discussion and are subject to further evaluation, student feedback, safety considerations, operational feasibility, and official approval. The SDC also shared that major renovations are conducted periodically, with ongoing weekly maintenance and cleanliness monitoring to improve students’ gym experience. For students’ reference, please be reminded that: 1 June 2026 is an official public holiday in conjunction with the Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. 2 June 2026 is observed as a replacement holiday for Wesak Day. In addition, concerning the implementation of classes on Monday, 25 May 2026 and Tuesday, 26 May 2026 prior to Eid al-Adha, no official university-wide directive has been issued regarding whether classes should be conducted physically or online. The Union has successfully compiled the official announcements and notices released by the respective kulliyyahs concerning the arrangements within their kulliyyahs. This compilation is intended to serve as a centralised reference to assist students in accessing the latest information and arrangements communicated by their respective kulliyyahs. Students are advised to refer carefully to the announcements issued by their kulliyyahs and lecturers, as arrangements may differ according to kulliyyah and course requirements. In cases where no specific announcement has been issued, students are encouraged to communicate respectfully with their lecturers for further clarification and confirmation regarding class arrangements.
