  • 💡New-Age Terms You Need to Know! Platform Capitalism – An economic system where digital platforms (Google, Amazon, Facebook) act as intermediaries, controlling markets and extracting value from users and businesses. Algorithmic Governance – Decision-making driven by AI and algorithms rather than human administrators, influencing law enforcement, hiring, and social services. Data Colonialism – The idea that big tech firms extract and monetize personal data from users globally, similar to how colonial powers exploited natural resources. Gigification – The transformation of stable jobs into gig work, where workers have no fixed contracts, benefits, or job security (Uberization of work). Surveillance Capitalism – A system where companies profit by tracking and predicting user behavior through massive data collection (coined by Shoshana Zuboff). Crypto-feudalism – A system where blockchain and cryptocurrency-based economies create digital elites who control assets while others remain economically dependent. Techno-Authoritarianism – The use of AI, surveillance, and digital tools by governments to monitor, control, and suppress dissent. Digital Serfdom – A state where individuals depend on tech giants for income, services, and even basic rights, similar to medieval peasants. Neofeudalism – The resurgence of hierarchical power structures in modern economies, where wealth concentration creates an elite class that controls economic opportunities. Zombie Capitalism – A failing economic system propped up by artificial means, like debt-fueled corporations that should have collapsed but survive due to government intervention. Hypernormalization – A term describing a society where people accept an obviously dysfunctional system because alternatives seem impossible. Metaverse Capitalism – An economic model where major companies monetize virtual worlds and digital assets, creating new forms of digital monopolies. AI Colonialism – The dominance of artificial intelligence developed by a few powerful nations and corporations, imposing cultural and economic influence on the rest of the world. Greenwashing – When corporations falsely claim to be environmentally friendly to improve their public image while continuing unsustainable practices.

  • Technofeudalism is a term used to describe a new form of economic and social dominance where large technology companies act like feudal lords, controlling vast digital territories and extracting wealth from users, small businesses, and workers. It suggests that instead of capitalism functioning through free markets and competition, the modern digital economy is increasingly dominated by a few powerful tech giants that control platforms, data, and online infrastructure.

  • *M2:* Since you are from Kerala, we see Keralites work very well in the Gulf, but at the same time, they are not working in their own state. They resort to strikes, hartals, no development... why is this so? *Me:* Sir, this is because back home we have a feeling like we can use extra freedom, which is not available in the Gulf. I also quoted an example: our parents will mostly tolerate what we do at home, which is not tolerated outside. People can get terminated. *M3:* But people can get terminated in Kerala as well. *Me:* Yes, sir, but still, there is an emotional and mental connection that comes into play back home. *M3:* Do you think deputation to different forces is a good thing? Like one person going to BSF, then to CRPF, and so on? *Me:* Yes, sir, I believe it is a good thing. First and foremost, the individual skill set is getting upgraded. Also, in this manner, he will be able to grasp the mandate of all forces thoroughly and can implement it in his own respective parent force for betterment. However, getting accustomed to the chemistry of a different force in the initial days can be challenging, but eventually, in a month or so, he will overcome that. So, overall, this is good. *M3:* Seems convinced. And some questions on swimming for which I answered well and he said good. Over to M4, a tough guy. *M4:* Asked questions on intelligence duty, subversion, who all does subversion, and why. I answered quite well. *M4:* A complex monologue including India's population, delimitation, and many more terms like government policies. It was the most difficult question asked in the entire interview. Instead of beating around the bush, I thought of leaving this bouncer question and just replied, "Sir, I'm unable to frame an answer for this... sorry, sir." For which he said politely, "Okay... no issue." Last question was an SRT. *M4:* If you are in an operation and your pistol stops working, what will you do? I was feeling exhausted by this time, and my thought process was functioning less. *Me:* Sir, in such an operation, if I face such a situation, I would use my spare pistol immediately. The board members burst into laughter. *M3:* No, no, you have just a single pistol, what will you do? *Me:* Sir, in that case, I will take cover first and will do whatever is necessary. *Chairman:* Okay, Anoop, your interview is over. Good luck to you. (With a smiling face) I thanked everyone, and all were looking at me and smiling this time. __________ My interview lasted almost 22-25 minutes, and there were some more questions that I can't recall now. Overall, it was an experience to cherish for a life time 🙂

  • *Transcript of my UPSC CISF AC LDCE interview held on 24/07/2024, AF session* I went into the room, all in very serious faces... staring at me. I saluted the chairman and wished everyone. *Chairman:* The seat is all yours... take your seat. *Me:* Thank you, sir. *Chairman:* As I can see, you are from Kerala, and officers from South India are less in the force... why is it so? *Me:* Sir, one reason I see is the population of North India is more than that of the South. *Chairman* (interrupting, laughing sarcastically): Is this even a reason you can give? *Me:* As the population increases, the number of talents we see also increases proportionally. So, in order to become an officer, it requires talent. Therefore, more population, more talents, and hence more officers from the North. The chairman seemed convinced. *Chairman:* Since you have been serving outside your home state, which place do you prefer for posting? *Me:* Sir, as a member of the force, I am ready to serve anywhere the duty is entrusted to me. There is no particular place I prefer. *Chairman:* Why so? *Me:* Sir, with this exposure, I get to know the beauty and culture of various parts of India in a broader way. *Chairman:* What will you do with your knowledge of culture? *Me:* Sir, with that knowledge, I shall be able to understand and communicate with my jawans and subordinates in a better way, understand their problems, etc. This will help me take steps that will ultimately enhance the working efficiency of the force. *Chairman:* Good. *Chairman:* As an officer, what do you think is essential for rejuvenating them? *Me:* Sir, to keep them rejuvenated and motivated, I myself must be motivated so that they can pick up on my energy. Secondly, sir, I have to be impartial, deliver equal justice, and ensure no injustice to anyone. Additionally, sir, to rejuvenate them and get rid of a monotonous environment, I would organize games and other activities. *Chairman:* What is the importance of games? *Me:* Sir, games teach us to first and foremost accept defeat. When you play a game, your mind is totally focused on it, and finally, it teaches you to enjoy the joy of victory. *Chairman:* Good. *Chairman:* So, your hobby is swimming... how often do you swim and other related basic questions? I answered. *Chairman:* Apart from swimming, is there anything else you do? *Me:* Sir, I play online chess and also participated in a Kalari demonstration on the 50th anniversary of CISF in 2019. *Chairman:* So, have you learned Kalari? *Me:* Yes, sir, in my 10th and 11th grades. *Chairman:* Okay, what is the significance of Kalari? Do you see its significance in the force? *Me:* Sir, though Kalari is known as the mother of all martial arts, it is less known in other parts of India. Through these demonstrations by the forces, we are promoting such a good martial art all over. *Chairman:* That's all from me. Over to another member. *Member 1:* Since you swim, are there any players you wish to meet? *Me:* Yes, sir. I would like to meet Dhindhini, the 14-year-old girl from Karnataka who is the youngest swimmer to compete and has set records in the 100m, qualifying for the Olympics. *M1:* Good. *M1:* You have done patrolling duties in your unit. What are some problems you see in your unit? *Me:* Sir, since our boundary walls and fences are the first line of defense and somewhat old and deteriorated, it is a problem. Secondly, sir, sometimes we have limited manpower due to IS duties, elections, etc. This limited manpower makes the workload tedious at times. But it can be compensated by using more technologies. Thirdly, to tackle new unconventional threats like drone attacks, the personnel trained in drone technology and counter-technology are few at present. *M1:* Questions regarding INT duties and weapons. For which my knowledge was not good, and I had to say no for many questions. Now, towards Member 2.
