This major international sporting event will bring together the world’s strongest Kurash athletes, coaches, referees, heads of national federations, and sports professionals from different countries on one platform. ❗️The championship holds particular significance for Kazakhstan. For the first time in the country’s history, Astana will host the World Kurash Championship and will become the center of the global Kurash family for several days. 🏆The World Championship will take place at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Palace of Martial Arts. The competition programme will feature bouts in all weight categories for men and women, the opening ceremony, semi-final and final contests, as well as the award ceremonies. ⚡️The World Championship in Astana will not be limited to sporting competitions alone. In accordance with tradition, the IKA Directing Committee meeting and the XXII Ordinary Congress of the International Kurash Association will also be held as part of the championship programme. Representatives of the International Turon Federation expressed their interest in benefiting from the International Kurash Association’s extensive experience and longstanding efforts in developing and promoting Kurash as an international sport, including its transformation from a traditional sport into a modern, internationally recognised discipline. ❗️The meeting also highlighted the importance of the New Uzbekistan Strategy and the relevant initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. The "Uzbekistan Ambassador's Cup" competition is being organized for the second time in honor of the Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This year's championship is set to feature national teams from the Central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as the host country, Korea. 📌The competition is intended not only to foster athletic rivalry on the gilam but also to further strengthen friendship, cooperation, and cultural ties between the Central Asian countries and Korea. Special mention was made of the support provided in this regard by Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, Acting President of the International Kurash Association. 📌Elections were also held during the Congress for the Directing Committee of the African Kurash Union for the 2026–2030 term. Delegates highly commended Thomas Dunker’s efforts to develop Kurash on the continent; he was re-elected as president of the African Kurash Union. Martil Ngoka was also elected Vice President, and Urban Keya was elected General Secretary.
