  • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Tuesday August 18, 2026 He Has Come and He Is Here Acts 2:1-4; Acts 1:8 Acts 2:1, 4 "When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place…and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:1–4 records the watershed moment when the Spirit of God descended in person upon the gathered community of believers; and the promise of John 14:16 was fulfilled: the Holy Spirit came to abide with them, and with all who believe, forever. The word "forever" in John 14:16 is eis ton aiona in the Greek; into the age, for all time, without interruption or expiration. Since the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit has never gone back. He is here; presently, continuously, and completely. This is a biblical fact, and the distinction between a promise and a fact is critical to the exercise of faith. If the Holy Spirit's presence were still a promise, we would be praying and believing for something yet to come. But because it is a fact; already fulfilled, already established, our response is not to petition for it but to receive what has already been given. Acts 1:8 frames this as a promise that was fulfilled in Acts 2:4 but from the moment of its fulfilment, it became a fact available to every believer. The Holy Spirit is not going anywhere. He is here. This settled truth has enormous practical consequences. Songs that beg the Holy Spirit to "come" as though He is absent are not scripturally aligned with the new covenant reality of His permanent presence. Prayers that treat His presence as conditional on the atmosphere of the meeting or the quality of the worship miss the theological truth that He abides. He does not fluctuate. He does not withdraw because the worship was slightly flat this morning or because you woke up in a difficult mood. He is here, the same yesterday, today, and forever; present in the body of the believer as in a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19), dwelling in the gathered body of believers as in a sanctuary (1 Corinthians 3:16). What changes is not His presence but our awareness of it. And that is what worship, prayer, and the Word of God restore; not the presence itself but our conscious fellowship with the presence that was never absent. The believer who grasps this will stop asking "Is the Holy Spirit here?" and start asking "Am I aware of the Holy Spirit who is always here?" That is the right question. Further Meditation:   1 Corinthians 6:19; 1 Corinthians 3:16 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) The Holy Spirit has come and He is here; permanently, powerfully, and personally. I walk in the awareness of His constant presence, and I fellowship with Him throughout this day. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Monday August 17, 2026 The Third Person of The Godhead 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16–17 2 Corinthians 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen." The Apostolic Benediction in 2 Corinthians 13:14 is perhaps the most theologically loaded valediction in all of Paul's writings. In a single sentence, it establishes the distinct ministry of each member of the Trinity and the unique grace that flows from each to the believer. Grace is of the Lord Jesus Christ; it was Jesus who brought grace and truth into the world (John 1:17), and it was through His poverty that we were made rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). Love is of the Father; it was the Father's love that precipitated everything: He loved us before the foundation of the world, and it was that love in motion that gave Jesus to humanity (John 3:16), and communion is of the Holy Spirit. Without the grace of the Lord Jesus, there is no redemption. Without the love of the Father, there is no initiative behind redemption. And without the communion of the Holy Spirit, neither the grace of Jesus nor the love of the Father can be continuously received, enjoyed, or applied. The Holy Spirit is the One who takes what Jesus purchased and what the Father purposed and serves it; freshly, personally, and sufficiently, to the believer who is in communion with Him. He is the delivery system of the entire Godhead. Understanding the Holy Spirit's role in this Trinitarian dynamic changes everything about how you approach Him. He is the indispensable third Person of the Godhead, without whose ministry neither the love of the Father nor the grace of the Son reaches you in lived experience. A warehouse fully stocked with food will not nourish a hungry person unless someone serves it to them. The finished work of Jesus is the fully stocked warehouse, the love of the Father is the motivation behind it, but the Holy Spirit is the One who serves it; He takes the inexhaustible supply of redemption's benefits: healing, peace, righteousness, wisdom, provision, and the very presence of God; and continuously ministers them to the spirit of the believer who is in fellowship with Him. This is why a person can be genuinely born again and yet live as though they are spiritually impoverished; because they have not learnt to fellowship with the Holy Spirit, through whom the full benefit of their salvation is administered. Further Meditation:   John 16:13–15; Romans 5:5 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) The grace of Jesus, the love of the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit are mine. I live in the enjoyment of all three; and it is the Holy Spirit who makes them real in my daily experience. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Sunday August 16, 2026 The Wardrobe of Holiness Ephesians 4:22-24, Colossians 9-10 Ephesians 4:22-24 “that you PUT OFF, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you PUT ON the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” The old man is not a part of you that needs to be improved gradually over time; he is a former identity that has already been put off entirely through your union with Christ (Ephesians 4:22). What you are called to now is simply putting on, daily and deliberately, what you have already been made: a new man, created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24). Beloved, you are not fighting to kill an old self that is somehow still alive and struggling for dominance; you are choosing, moment by moment, to walk consistently with the new self you already, actually are, since your old man was crucified with Him that the body of sin might be done away with (Romans 6:6). Family resemblance is rarely instant; it deepens gradually, the way a child's features and mannerisms increasingly echo a parent's as the years of shared life accumulate. Every time an old thought pattern, a former reaction, or an old habit resurfaces, recognise it for what it is: clothing that no longer belongs to your wardrobe, however familiar it feels to reach for it. You do not have to fight it as though it still owns you or has any rightful claim on your identity; you simply put it off and reach, instead, for what you have already been given: the new man, created in true righteousness and holiness. Remember Paul's own testimony, that it is no longer he who lives, but Christ who lives in him (Galatians 2:20), and let that same reality govern what you choose to wear today. Whatever old habit resurfaces today, however familiar or comfortable it feels, remember it is simply clothing that no longer fits who you have already become in Christ. Remember, finally, that putting off is not a single dramatic event but a daily, deliberate choice, made new again each time an old pattern quietly resurfaces. Further Meditation: Romans 6:6; Galatians 2:20 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I put off the old man and put on the new, choosing moment by moment to walk as who I already am in Christ. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Saturday August 15, 2026 Raised to a Holy Life Colossians 2:13; Ephesians 2:4-5 Colossians 2:13 “And you, being dead in your trespasses... He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,” You cannot instruct a dead man to behave better. A dead man does not need better instructions; he needs life. He needs to be raised before he can be expected to walk, let alone walk well. This is exactly what God did before He ever called you to live holy; He made you alive together with Christ, having forgiven you all your trespasses (Colossians 2:13). Holiness does not begin with a new list of rules given to an unchanged heart. It begins with a new life placed within us. When we were united with Christ, we received resurrection life. Therefore, holiness is not a dead person struggling to obey from the outside; it is a person who has been made alive learning to walk in the new life already given. Imagine a dance teacher trying to teach a mannequin to dance. No matter how clear the instructions are, it cannot respond because it has no life. But give that same teacher a living, breathing person, and dancing becomes possible, even natural, with practice and repetition over time. God did not give you commands and leave you powerless to obey them. He gave you a new life first, and then called you to walk in that life daily. The ability to live holy does not come from human effort alone; it flows from the life of Christ within you. So, if you have been approaching holiness as though you are trying to force yourself to become someone you are not, remember who you are in Christ. You are not trying to earn a life you do not have. You are learning to express the life God has already placed within you. Set your mind on things above, where Christ is (Colossians 3:1–2). Today, choose to walk from the reality of resurrection life, not from fear, pressure, or anxiety. You may still be growing, and you may not always walk perfectly, but the power to walk is already within you. Resurrection life is not only a future promise. It is a present reality. Even in an ordinary day, the life of Christ is at work in you, enabling you to become more like Him.   Further Meditation: Romans 6:4; Colossians 3:1 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I am alive together with Christ, and I walk from resurrection life, not from a rulebook. His life in me moves me forward.   To access Apostle Segun Obadje's books, visit linktr.ee/booksbysotm Start your day ignited in God's glory. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Friday August 14, 2026 Grace and Truth: The Two Hands of Holiness John 1:16-17 John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Some believers pursue holiness through truth alone and become harsh, critical, and legalistic. They are quick to identify what is wrong but slow to show compassion to those who are struggling. Others pursue it through grace alone and become careless, excusing sin as though it no longer matters or carries any weight but Scriptures reminds us that in Christ, grace and truth arrived together, inseparably, as one gift, not as two competing philosophies to choose between (John 1:17). Real holiness is never truth without grace or grace without truth; it is truth held in a merciful hand, offered rather than thrown. God wants to reveal His truth to you graciously, so that you are neither crushed by legalism nor loosened by compromise, but established in a balanced, life-giving relationship with Him that neither hides from truth nor forgets to be kind. Think of a skilled surgeon: precision (truth) without gentleness (grace), causes unnecessary damage even when the diagnosis is correct. On the other hand, gentleness without precision fails to heal at all, however kindly it is offered. A good surgeon needs both. Likewise, holiness requires both truth and grace working together. When you correct someone, or when God corrects you, ask yourself: Am I holding truth and grace together? Are you excusing sin in the name of grace, or crushing someone, perhaps yourself, in the name of truth? Ask the Holy Spirit today to teach you both together, the way Christ Himself walked in them, full of grace and truth, never trading one for the other. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you anywhere you have quietly drifted toward only one hand, truth without warmth or grace without conviction, and invite Him to restore the balance Christ modelled perfectly. As He works in you, He is forming that same balance in your life: a holiness that is firm in conviction but rich in compassion. God bless you. Further Meditation: 2 Peter 1:2; Titus 2:11-12 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I hold truth and grace together, refusing to trade one for the other. I ask the Holy Spirit to teach me both today. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Thursday August 13, 2026 It Wasn't About the Fruit Genesis 2:16-17, Genesis 2:9 Genesis 2:16-17 “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”” It is easy to think that the forbidden tree was evil by nature, but Scripture tells us that it was good for food, just like the other trees in the garden (Genesis 2:9, 2:16–17). The issue was not the fruit itself; the issue was whether Adam and Eve would trust God's word and obey His instruction. The test was about choosing God's timing over their own desire. This teaches us something important about holiness: it is not only about avoiding things that are clearly wrong. Often, holiness is choosing to wait for what is good until God says it is the right time and the right way. Many of our greatest tests do not come through obvious evil. They come through good things offered outside God's order. The question is often not, "Is this wrong?" but, "Am I willing to trust God enough to receive this in His way and in His timing?" For example, physical intimacy within marriage is good and designed by God. But outside marriage, that same gift becomes a test of obedience. The issue is not that the desire itself is wrong; the issue is whether we will honour God's boundaries and trust His wisdom. Holiness asks deeper questions than simply, "Is this sinful?" It asks, "Is this God's will for me right now? Is this the right way, and is this the right time?" Whatever desire or decision you are facing today, bring it before God. Remember His promise that no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity, and that He provides a way of escape so you can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Choose to walk by the Spirit rather than being controlled by your desires (Galatians 5:16). Never underestimate the importance of small acts of obedience. The choices no one sees are often the ones that build the character God wants to develop in you. Delayed obedience is not the absence of desire; it is the evidence of trust. It is choosing to believe that God's timing and His ways are always better than your own. Further Meditation: 1 Corinthians 10:13; Galatians 5:16 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I trust God's timing over my own appetite, even with things that are good. I wait for His holy way, not merely my own. To access Apostle Segun Obadje's books, visit linktr.ee/booksbysotm Start your day ignited in God's glory. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Wednesday August 12, 2026 Growth Is Not the Same as Maturity Hebrews 5:13-14; Ephesians 4:15 Hebrews 5:13-14 “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” There is an important difference between merely growing older in the faith and truly maturing in holiness. Time alone can make us older believers, but it does not automatically make us mature believers. A person can receive spiritual nourishment and increase in knowledge, yet still lack the character, wisdom, and Christlike responses that come through tests and practice. True maturity develops as we apply what we know, make godly choices, and allow God to shape us through the challenges of life. Hebrews 5:13-14 says that mature believers are those whose senses have been trained through practice to discern good and evil. Simply eating well does not make a person wise or disciplined; a well-fed body can still house an undeveloped, untested character that has never faced a genuine test of will. Physical growth happens with food alone; holy character requires exercise: decisions, challenges, and choices repeatedly made in the right direction under real pressure. Ask yourself today: am I merely getting older in the Lord, or am I actually maturing in holiness through tested choices? If there are areas where your growth has been passive, invite God to work in those places. Ask Him to reveal the areas where your character needs to be strengthened and to help you respond rightly when those areas are tested. Paul encourages us to "speak the truth in love" and "grow up in all things into Him who is the head - Christ" (Ephesians 4:15). Maturity comes as we become more like Jesus in every area of life. Remember, finally, that God is far more patient with your development than your own impatience often allows you to be. He delights in tested character however slowly it forms. He is not frustrated by your growth journey; He delights in seeing your character strengthened through each season. Continue to ask Him for wisdom, discipline, and a willing heart. Every test you walk through with Him is an opportunity for the true holiness nature He has placed within you to become more visible. God bless you. Further Meditation: 1 Corinthians 3:1-2; 2 Peter 3:18 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I choose deliberate, tested obedience over passive growth. I invite God to exercise and mature my character today. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Tuesday August 11, 2026 Holy in Seed Form 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 3:2 1 Peter 1:23 “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” When you are born again, the fullness of God's holy image is not instantly visible in you the way it is seen in the risen Christ. The new life of God is truly in you, but it begins like a seed that must grow and mature. This is not a reason for fear or discouragement; it is simply God's design for growth. The Bible says that we have been "born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever" (1 Peter 1:23). The seed of God's life already contains everything needed for the growth of Christlikeness. Nothing is missing from the nature God has given you; what is needed is time, growth, and continual surrender to His work in you. An acorn does not need different DNA to become an oak tree; it already carries everything required within its shell, and simply needs the process of growth to express what is already present in but unseen. In the same way, you do not need a different nature to grow in holiness; you already carry Christ's incorruptible seed within you, complete in kind though not yet complete in expression. So, be patient with your growth today, the way a farmer is patient with a seed sown in the ground.  A farmer does not dig up a seed every day to check if it is growing. He waters it, cares for it, and trusts the process until the harvest comes. Jesus said that the seed grows gradually; first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain" (Mark 4:28). Remember that He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). Whatever stage of growth you find yourself in today, resist the temptation to compare your seed to someone else's fuller harvest. Different seeds grow at different rates, and different seasons produce different levels of maturity. The difference is not in the quality of the seed but in the journey of growth. Wherever you are today, trust the faithful Gardener. The holiness of Christ planted within you will continue to grow until the day when you see Him as He is and become fully like Him (1 John 3:2). Keep nurturing what God has already placed inside you, knowing that He is faithful to bring it to completion. Further Meditation: Mark 4:26-28; Philippians 1:6 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I carry Christ's incorruptible seed within me, and I am patient with my own growth, trusting the process He has begun. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Monday August 10, 2026 Made to Reflect Him Genesis 1:26-27 Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” From the very beginning, God intended man to be the visible image of the invisible God, showcasing His character, including His holiness, in the physical, everyday world (Genesis 1:26-27). Holiness was never meant to be a quiet, internal quality kept between you and God alone; it was always designed to be seen, to be visible, to represent Him wherever you go, in ordinary conversations and unremarkable moments. In the new creation, this original design has been restored: you are not only forgiven, you are reinstated into the purpose of displaying God's holy character in the earth, exactly as Adam was always meant to, before the fall interrupted that display. This standard, however high it appears, is not a demand placed on you from outside; it is the expression of the life of Christ already within you. A mirror does not create light; it only reflects the light that shines on it. In the same way, you were not created to generate holiness on your own, straining to produce a glow you do not have; you were created to position your life to reflect the holiness of God that is already yours in Christ. Your role is simply to remain positioned toward Him so that His character can be seen through your life. Wherever you are today; at work, at home, in ordinary conversation; you are meant to reflect God to people around you. Many people may never open a Bible, but they can encounter the love, goodness, and holiness of God through the way you live. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). This is not a call to pretend or perform holiness for others. It is an invitation to allow the life of Christ within you to naturally shine outward. So do not approach holiness with anxiety, as though you are trying to produce something you do not have. Recognise that God has already placed His life within you, and let that life be seen through your words, actions, and choices. Today, simply position yourself toward Him and allow His light to be reflected through you. Your life is meant to display the beauty of who He is. God bless you. Further Meditation: Matthew 5:14-16; Ephesians 5:1 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) I was made to reflect God's holiness in ordinary, everyday moments. I position my life to display the light already shining in me. To access Apostle Segun Obadje's books, visit linktr.ee/booksbysotm Start your day ignited in God's glory. • Good Morning, Beloved! The Leverage Devotional by Apostle Segun Obadje, Ph.D. Sunday August 09, 2026 The Flawless Image of Holiness Hebrews 1:3; Colossians 1:15 Hebrews 1:3 “who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” Christ is the flawless, spotless, impeccable image of God; the perfect standard of what holiness actually looks like in a Person (Hebrews 1:3). This is important because holiness can sometimes seem like an impossible idea or a set of difficult rules. But in Jesus, holiness became visible. We can see it in the way He lived, spoke, loved, forgave, and obeyed the Father. Whenever you wonder what holiness looks like in everyday life, look at Jesus. Read the Gospels and watch how He treated people, responded to temptation, spoke the truth with love, showed compassion, and remained faithful to God's will. He is both the source of your holiness and the perfect model of it. This also keeps us from comparing ourselves with other Christians. Our standard is not another believer's life but Christ Himself. As we keep our eyes on Him, we learn what true holiness really is. An artist copying a painting does not guess at the colours; they keep glancing back at the original, matching stroke for stroke, hue for hue, and refusing to trust memory alone. Likewise, you do not have to guess at what holiness requires in any situation; keep glancing back at Christ, at how He treated people, spoke truth, showed mercy, and stayed obedient to the Father even under pressure. The more familiar you become with the original, the more naturally your own life begins to resemble it, the way long exposure to a masterpiece trains an artist's eye without conscious effort. Paul describes this as beholding the glory of the Lord and being transformed into the same image from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18); keep looking, and the resemblance will keep deepening. Return to the Gospels this week with fresh eyes, not merely for information but for formation, letting the portrait of Christ recalibrate your picture of what holiness in a real, breathing life actually looks like. Studying Christ this way is never merely academic; it is relational, because the goal is not mere information about holiness but transformation through beholding the One who embodies it. Further Meditation: John 14:9; 2 Corinthians 3:18 MY SOLID FRONT (CONFESSION) Christ is the flawless image of holiness, and I keep my eyes fixed on Him. I am being transformed as I behold Him.
