SPIRIT MEAT DEVOTIONAL BY REV OLUSOLA AND REV OYENIKE AREOGUN Tuesday, 18th August 2026 TOPIC: CAN GOD TELL YOU THE TRUTH ABOUT YOURSELF? John 16:12–14; Proverbs 9:8–9 One evidence of spiritual maturity is your capacity to receive the truth about yourself, especially when it is unpleasant. Some people enjoy hearing the promises of God but become angry when His Word exposes their wrong attitudes, habits, or decisions. They interpret every correction as condemnation and every honest observation as rejection. Jesus told His disciples, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.” He was not unwilling to speak; they had not developed the capacity to receive everything on His heart. Is there something God cannot tell you at your present level because you cannot bear it? If truth repeatedly makes you defensive, quarrelsome, or suspicious of those who speak it, you may be suffering from truth intolerance. Remaining in that condition for too long will hinder growth and eventually open the door to backsliding. Truth may come to you through the Scriptures, the inward witness of the Holy Spirit, your pastor, spouse, parent, leader, or even an ordinary observation from someone around you. The important question is not whether the person spoke exactly as you preferred, but whether there is truth in what was said. A spiritually immature person quickly responds, “They do not like me,” “Why are they condemning me?” or “How can they speak to me that way?” Such reactions prevent him from examining himself. Do not allow your emotions to reject the medicine your destiny needs. The Holy Spirit is the One who can tell you the most accurate truth about yourself because He speaks what He hears from Jesus. He is not trying to disgrace you; He wants to guide you into all truth. When He exposes impatience, pride, dishonesty, selfishness, or rebellion, He is showing you what must be removed so that Christ can be formed more fully in you. Come to a place where everything on the Father’s heart can be spoken freely to you. That level of intimacy will require humility and time. Before defending yourself, pause and ask, “Lord, what are You showing me through this?” Even if the correction was poorly presented, separate its manner from its message and receive whatever agrees with the truth. Do not demand that everybody flatter you before you feel loved. A person who always rejects correction will gradually surround himself with people who tell him only what he wants to hear, and that is dangerous. Let the Spirit of Truth take over your thinking, reasoning, emotions, and will. Thank God for those who love you enough to speak honestly, and do not punish them for helping you. The even place is not merely where you tell others the truth; it is also where you willingly receive truth about yourself. When God finds that He can correct you without losing you, He can safely reveal more of His heart and entrust you with greater responsibility. THOUGHT TO PONDER: Can God speak freely to me about every area of my life? Do I examine correction sincerely, or dismiss it because its delivery makes me uncomfortable? PRAYER: Father, deliver me from every intolerance of truth. Give me a humble and teachable heart that receives correction and responds promptly to Your dealings in Jesus’ name. SPIRIT MEAT DEVOTIONAL BY REV OLUSOLA AND REV OYENIKE AREOGUN Monday, 17th August 2026 TOPIC: PUT YOUR NATURE ON A DIET OF TRUTH John 17:17; Psalm 119:9–11 The Word of God does more than change difficult situations; it can change the wrong tendencies operating within you. Some believers keep confessing, “I am short-tempered,” “I am naturally impatient,” “I cannot control my desires,” or “That is simply the way I am.” They speak as though an ungodly disposition is a permanent part of their identity. But there is nothing you are dealing with in your nature that the Word cannot handle. When you gave your life to Christ, you received the nature of God. Therefore, anything in your conduct that contradicts Christ is not something you should excuse or protect; it is something you must bring under the sanctifying power of truth. Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” The Word can purge what is impure, straighten what has become crooked, and cultivate the nature of Christ within you. If you are struggling with immorality, put yourself on a diet of purity from the Word. Find Scriptures that reveal God’s standard for your body, thoughts, and relationships. Read them, meditate upon them, confess them, and obey them continually. If stinginess has a hold upon you, search for Scriptures concerning God’s generosity and the grace of giving. If anger controls you, feed upon the portions of Scripture that reveal meekness, patience, self-control, and the character of Christ. Do not read casually and move on. Take the Word as medicine and remain on the prescription until the wrong nature loses its grip. A person who was once quick-tempered can become calm and meek. An impatient person can develop endurance. A selfish person can become generous. Truth is not powerless information; it is spiritual substance carrying the nature and life of God into the believer who receives it. Let the Word grow in your spirit until the culture of God’s Kingdom becomes stronger than the patterns you inherited from your family, environment, or past life. Do not excuse fleshly behaviour by saying, “That is how people from my background behave,” or, “Everyone in my family is like this.” Your new birth has brought you into another family, and God’s Word reveals its nature. However, transformation requires more than quoting a verse occasionally. You must remain with the truth, submit to its correction, and practise what it demands. The devil attacks the Word because he knows it is the core of your light and Christian strength. He wants you to believe that change is impossible so that you will tolerate what Christ died to deliver you from. Refuse that lie. Identify the wrong tendency, locate God’s prescription, and stay faithfully on the diet of truth. As the Word enters, light will increase, your conscience will become sharper, and the nature of Christ will become increasingly evident in your daily life. THOUGHT TO PONDER: What negative trait have I wrongly accepted as part of my identity? Which Scriptures must I consistently receive and practise until Christ’s nature replaces it? PRAYER: Father, sanctify me through Your truth. Let Your Word purge every ungodly tendency and cultivate the character and nature of Christ within me in Jesus’ name. SPIRIT MEAT DEVOTIONAL BY REV OLUSOLA AND REV OYENIKE AREOGUN Sunday, 16th August 2026 TOPIC: KEEP STRIKING THE ROCK Hebrews 4:12; Mark 11:22–23 The Word of God is final authority, and every time you release it against a contrary situation, something happens. You may not see an immediate outward change, but that does not mean the Word has failed. When geologists want to break a rock, they strike it repeatedly. After the first blows, the rock may still look unchanged on the surface, yet each strike weakens its internal structure. Eventually, what appeared immovable breaks apart. The same principle applies when you speak God’s Word over the works of darkness. Every declaration of truth strikes at the foundation of the enemy’s operation. The problem is that many believers stop because the situation still looks strong. They say, “I have prayed, but nothing has happened,” without realising that unseen weakening has already begun. Never use your natural eyes alone to judge whether the Word of God is working. The devil will often intensify appearances to make you doubt the efficacy of the Word of God. He may laugh through stubborn symptoms, delayed answers, mounting pressure, or repeated contradictions. His purpose is to persuade you that your confession is useless and that the situation has more authority than God. Do not believe him. Satan is a liar even when his performance appears convincing. There was a man of God who confronted an evil manifestation and kept rebuking it in the name of Jesus. Instead of disappearing immediately, the spirit laughed more loudly, attempting to create the impression that the Word was powerless. The Holy Spirit instructed him not to stop, because the laughter itself was a lie. He continued declaring the Word, and shortly afterwards the spirit fled in terror. What appeared to be resistance was actually the enemy’s desperate attempt to make him withdraw before victory became visible. Never let the Word of God depart from your mouth because circumstances appear unchanged. Jesus lives in you, and He is the Head of all principality and power. Do not panic when the enemy is at work; take your authority and keep releasing the truth. Persistence is not an attempt to persuade God to act. It is the refusal to surrender your agreement with what He has already said. Each time you speak, remain conscious that God’s Word is spirit and life, not empty religious language. Refuse to strengthen the contradiction by declaring defeat after you have prayed. Do not rebuild with unbelieving words what the Word has been pulling down. Keep striking the rock. Keep addressing the symptoms, fear, lack, oppression, and resistance with relevant Scriptures. Stand in the even place, where your mouth agrees with God, even under pressure. One more declaration may be the blow after which the long-standing contradiction finally collapses. Do not stop speaking until the truth becomes visible. THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I stopped declaring God’s Word because nothing appears to be changing? Am I strengthening the contradiction through impatient or unbelieving words? PRAYER: Father, strengthen me to remain steadfast in declaring Your Word. Help me not to judge by appearances or withdraw before the victory becomes visible in Jesus’ name. SPIRIT MEAT DEVOTIONAL BY REV OLUSOLA AND REV OYENIKE AREOGUN Saturday, 15th August 2026 TOPIC: YOUR EXPERIENCE IS NOT THE TRUTH Romans 4:17–21; 1 Peter 2:24 There is a difference between what you are experiencing and what God has declared to be true. Your experience may be real, painful, and supported by visible evidence, but it is not necessarily the truth that God has ordained for your life. Imagine a parent whose child has not returned from school several hours after the expected time. The telephone is unreachable, friends have no information, and fearful thoughts begin to flood the mind. The anxiety and physical reactions are real, but they may be built entirely upon imaginations that are not true. When the child eventually returns safely with a reasonable explanation, the parent discovers that hours of torment were produced by false expectations. In the same way, the devil can use symptoms, delays, and incomplete information to construct a frightening story in your mind. Do not surrender to a conclusion merely because your feelings agree with it. When God called Abraham the father of many nations, everything in his physical experience appeared to contradict that word. His body was old, Sarah’s womb was barren, and natural possibility had disappeared. Yet God was not lying; He was declaring the truth that would eventually become their visible reality. Abraham had to decide whether physical manifestation or the Word of God would have the final voice. You must make that same decision. If God says that by the stripes of Jesus you were healed, an aching body must not be permitted to cancel that truth. If God says He will supply your need, temporary lack must not redefine Him as an unfaithful Father. This does not mean you pretend that symptoms, bills, or challenges do not exist. It means you refuse to promote a contrary experience above the authority of God’s Word. Always judge the Word of God to be true over your life. The devil will tell you that what God said cannot happen, that your condition is permanent, or that your obedience has produced nothing. His lies are designed to make you agree with the contradiction and withdraw from your position of faith. Do not cooperate with him. Search the Scriptures until you know what God has said concerning the matter, then bring your thoughts, words, and expectations into agreement with it. Reject fearful imaginations before they develop into inward convictions. Speak the truth of God without denying responsible action, and refuse to make permanent conclusions from temporary conditions. Some people live and die experiencing the enemy’s lies because they never insist upon what God has spoken. You must be different. Stand in the even place of agreement with God. The truth may first exist only in His promise, but as you remain persuaded, it will ultimately become your testimony and visible experience. THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I mistaken a temporary experience for God’s final verdict? What contrary circumstance must I bring under the authority of His Word? PRAYER: Father, teach me to judge Your Word faithful and true above every contrary experience. Deliver me from fearful conclusions and establish my heart in Your promises in Jesus’ name. SPIRIT MEAT DEVOTIONAL BY REV OLUSOLA AND REV OYENIKE AREOGUN Friday, 14th August 2026 TOPIC: WHEN TRUTH BECOMES YOUR FINAL AUTHORITY John 14:6–7; John 17:17 Jesus did not merely teach the truth; He introduced Himself as the Truth. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” showing that everything issuing from Him agrees perfectly with the Father. Truth is not one of His attributes that can be separated from His Person. Jesus said He could do nothing of Himself, but judged as He heard from the Father. The Holy Spirit likewise does not speak independently; He communicates what He receives from Christ. This reveals a divine partnership, oneness, and unbroken flow of truth within the Godhead. There is no contradiction, manipulation, or private agenda in God. Therefore, the closer you walk with Christ, the straighter your life should become. A believer cannot claim intimacy with Jesus while becoming increasingly comfortable with falsehood, because the One he claims to follow is Truth personified. Jesus is also the Way. No matter how lost, confused, or trapped you may be, when He appears, an opening comes. If you follow Him one step at a time, He will lead you out into the place God has prepared for you. But you cannot follow the Way while rejecting the Truth. Many people want Jesus to show them the road to healing, prosperity, marriage, ministry, or destiny, yet they resist His truth concerning their character, choices, and relationships. They want direction without correction and divine outcomes without divine standards. That will not work. The introduction you receive of Jesus will determine how you walk with Him. Receive Him not only as Saviour, Healer, and Provider, but also as the Truth who has the right to contradict every false belief, crooked practice, and deceptive conclusion in your life. Anything God says is truth; whatever contradicts Him is a lie. Your feelings may be real, circumstances may be painful, and physical evidence may appear convincing, but none of these has the authority to overrule God. Abraham’s body and Sarah’s womb presented the experience of barrenness, yet God called him a father of many nations. God was not describing the prevailing condition; He was declaring the truth that would eventually become their reality. Learn to distinguish between what you are experiencing and what God has spoken. Do not deny that a challenge exists, but refuse to enthrone it as the final authority. Jesus is the Truth and also the Life; what He says carries the power to produce what He has declared. Stand in the even place by agreeing with God. Let His Word define you, govern your expectations, and settle every argument in your heart. When you choose His Word, you choose the very nature and government of God. The truth may not yet be visible, but if God has spoken, hold your position until truth becomes your experience. THOUGHT TO PONDER: Have I made God’s Word the final authority over my experiences? Is there any circumstance whose voice I currently believe above what God has said? PRAYER: Father, establish Your Word as the final authority in my heart. Help me to reject every contradiction and remain steadfast until Your truth becomes my visible experience in Jesus’ name. SPIRIT MEAT DEVOTIONAL BY REV OLUSOLA AND REV OYENIKE AREOGUN Thursday, 13th August 2026 TOPIC: CAN GOD TRUST YOU WITH HIS MESSAGE? Proverbs 12:19; 1 Timothy 3:14–15 Truthfulness is not only important for your personal character; it determines what God can entrust to you. The people committed to truth are the people God will trust with power and responsibility in these last days. God cannot safely send a person who bends facts, because such a person may also bend His message. If a man is accustomed to altering ordinary conversations to protect himself, what assurance is there that he will not alter divine instruction to please people? This is particularly dangerous in prophetic ministry. A person who is loose with truth can say, “Thus saith the Lord,” when God has not spoken. Lying spirits can work with his dishonest tendencies and lead others astray. Before desiring a public platform, ask whether God can trust your mouth. Heaven needs messengers who will not add to, subtract from, or tilt the message to suit themselves. A dishonest person can even misuse Scripture because he has trained his mind to explain away truth. He may quote the Bible while bending its meaning to justify immorality, greed, rebellion, or personal ambition. That is why truth must first be straight in your mouth and established in your inward parts. The Church is the pillar and ground of the truth. Everything about Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Father, and the true Church stands upon truth. The things of God cannot grow soundly from a foundation of falsehood. Wherever lies enter, whether on the pulpit or in the pew, at home or at work, the devil has found a place. Gifts cannot compensate for dishonesty, and eloquence cannot sanctify deception. Every lie disqualifies a person from something in the Father’s presence. God may forgive when he repents, but he must allow truth to rebuild the trust that falsehood damaged. Become known as a person whose word can be relied upon. There was a young fellowship leader whose unbelieving schoolmates testified that if he promised to see you at a particular time, he would certainly fulfil the appointment. They might not have shared his faith, but they had observed his integrity. Truth commands respect, even among people who do not serve God. Others may dislike your refusal to compromise, but they will know that your words carry weight. In the long run, truth is more profitable than lies. It attracts respect, honour, mercy, and divine trust. Therefore, fulfil your promises, report facts accurately, and never claim that God said what He did not say. If you discover that you have spoken wrongly, correct yourself promptly. Let God know that His message will remain unchanged in your hands. When heaven finds a man who will speak the truth despite pressure, loss, or opposition, that man becomes someone God can train, build upon, and send. Stand in the even place and become a trustworthy messenger in your generation. THOUGHT TO PONDER: Can God trust me to preserve His message without altering it? Does my everyday conduct show others that my words can be relied upon? PRAYER: Father, make me a trustworthy messenger. Establish truth in my inward parts, and never let fear, ambition, or personal interest cause me to distort Your Word in Jesus’ name.
