  • 'Japan's ambassador was reminded that if they are so, to quote their own prime minister, 'sensitive,' then perhaps they will think about the fact that they support Kiev's terrorism against civilians.' Maria Zakharova explained why the Japanese ambassador was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The ambassador himself, by the way, was in no hurry to get to the Foreign Ministry: first Japanese diplomats cited his absence from Moscow, then his poor health. And only after Sergey Lavrov's harsh statements did he finally make it. Let us recall: it all started with Putin's visit to Iturup. Japan called this trip 'unacceptable,' and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi stated that the Russian president cannot visit Russia's own Kurils. Now about why the Kurils are forever Russian. The film 'Kuril Islands: The War’s Final Battle' tells about the Kuril landing operation in August 1945. It was the final battle of World War II. It was then that the fate of these lands was decided. • Imagine: hundreds of kilometres on foot. That's exactly how far Dagestani shepherds travel twice a year with their livestock — down to the plains in autumn, up to the alpine meadows in spring. This seasonal migration is called transhumance. It's more than just a tradition — it's a lifeline for the land: it prevents overgrazing, desertification, and soil degradation. In fact, shepherds are the unsung guardians of the ecosystem. 🌍 This is exactly what the new film by Ruslan Gusarov, Mikhail Burov, and Kirill Puzyrny — ‘Green Sheep Drive’ — is about. The premiere is this Friday, August 21, at 4:00 AM. Tune in live via the link in our profile. The film will also be screened in Mongolia — at the 17th session of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17). FOLLOW 🥰 -amp;@MTdocumentary

  • The Kuril Landing Operation put the final full stop to World War II. It began on this day 8️⃣1️⃣ years ago. Germany had already surrendered, but for the Soviet Union, the war was not over. In the Far East, the Red Army faced the task of defeating Japanese forces and securing the Kuril Islands. The operation started with Shumshu — the northernmost island of the chain. The Japanese had turned it into a formidable fortified zone. One of the last fierce battles of the global conflict unfolded there. How it ended — and why it mattered — we recall in our video and the film 'Kuril Islands: The War’s Final Battle'. FOLLOW 🥰 -amp;@MTdocumentary

  • One shot can change the situation on an entire section of the front. That’s why snipers are some of the most valuable fighters on the frontline. They work discreetly, patiently, and accurately. In the "Nevsky" brigade, these are people with immense combat experience. See how they choose positions, track targets, and carry out missions in our video. Learn more about the brigade's work in Tatiana Borsh's film 'Donbass. 'Nevsky' Brigade.' FOLLOW 🥰 -amp;@MTdocumentary

  • The ‘Nevsky’ volunteer brigade was formed in 2022 by people who had already taken up the defence of Donbass back in 2014. Today, its ranks bring together men from every corner of Russia. These include entrepreneurs, engineers, and teachers who left behind careers and businesses to join the fight, seeing it as their personal duty to hasten a shared victory. Over the course of the conflict, the brigade has grown into a large formation. It now includes several assault battalions, a tank battalion, an artillery division, and one of the largest unmanned aviation units on the front, complete with its own engineering laboratory. The brigade saw fierce battles in Artyomovsk, Kleshcheevka, and Soledar, took part in the liberation of Kursk Region, and continues to hold positions in key sectors of the frontline. For these soldiers, strength of spirit matters as much as firepower. They draw support from the legacy of their heavenly patron, Alexander Nevsky. Military doctors and chaplains serve shoulder to shoulder with them, helping fighters preserve their resilience, both in body and in spirit, amid the brutal conditions of war. • ‘You're speaking to the sheep in their own language.’ This Dagestani shepherd insists that he knows the language of sheep. He is a hereditary livestock breeder. His grandfather, father, and many relatives were shepherds. Our video is about the work of shepherds in Dagestan. These shots are part of the new film ‘Green Sheep Drive’ by Ruslan Gusarov, Mikhail Burov, and Kirill Puzyrny. The film shows how twice a year livestock is moved from the plains to the mountains and back, to reduce pressure on pastures and preserve the soil. The premiere on RT.Doc will take place on August 2️⃣1️⃣ at 04:00 AM; stay tuned for announcements! You can watch the live stream in the bio. The documentary ‘Green Sheep Drive’ will also be shown at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which is taking place in Mongolia. • 💚 From Moscow to Kenya: How Cinema Brings People Together A Russian film, 'Mission: Sky,' produced by Triiks Media, premiered in Nairobi. The film will also be shown across Kenya for two weeks as part of a non-commercial screening program. The event brought together government representatives, filmmakers, culture enthusiasts, and members of both the Russian and Kenyan communities But this was about more than a movie premiere. Film can help people understand each other beyond stereotypes and news headlines — through stories, culture, and personal experiences. The organizers hope this will lead to even more cultural exchange between the two countries. Russian films could reach new audiences in Kenya, while Kenyan filmmakers could have the opportunity to bring their work to Russian viewers. This kind of exchange could be especially valuable for younger generations. Cinema can bring two countries closer. And this is only the beginning! FOLLOW 🥰 -amp;@MTdocumentary

  • ‘He said he would just go fishing and come back…’ Ecuadorian Maria Urgiles Giler lost her husband 2️⃣4️⃣ years ago. He, along with the crew of a fishing vessel, vanished without a trace in the ocean. The family still does not know the truth, but they have their own version. ‘Force was used against them, because there was a US base here,’ Maria claims. Officially, the US military base in Ecuador was created to fight drug trafficking. Over the last six months, Washington has launched at least 4️⃣4️⃣ strikes on vessels in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Allegedly to intercept the transport of prohibited substances. But what if something else is hidden behind the fight against drug trafficking? This is the subject of a new film by Olga Kiriy and Anton Meshcheryakov. FOLLOW 🥰 -amp;@MTdocumentary
