Earthquake Response Equipment Handed Over 27 June 2025 The German and Finnish Red Cross Societies have handed over earthquake response equipment to be used in the ongoing earthquake response activities of the Myanmar Red Cross Society. The earthquake response equipment was handed over by representatives of the German and Finnish Red Cross Societies at Yangon Airport on June 26. Daw Ei Ei Htwe, Deputy Secretary General of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, and officials received it and presented a certificate of appreciation. The donated items included Family Tents, Shelter Tool Kits (Type 1,2), Jerrycans, Warehouse Tent-Mini Rub Hall, Hygiene Parcel from the German Red Cross Society and Tents from the Finnish Red Cross Society. #Earthquake #German #Finnish #Myanmar #mtnews

SAC Chairman Says Multi-Party Democracy System Will Be Implemented 25 June 2025 SAC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that the multi-party democracy system desired by the people will be implemented. He made the remarks while delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of the Peace Forum being held in Nay Pyi Taw. "We will be implementing the multi-party democracy system desired by the people. Since taking office, it has been included in the five (5) priority areas. Therefore, our government will also hold the election as originally intended," said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. 5,686 foreign tourists visited Kawthaung 24 June 2025 5,686 foreign tourists visited Kawthaung, the main tourist destination in Tanintharyi Region. The Chief Minister of Tanintharyi Region made the announcement during a meeting of the Tanintharyi Region Regional Tourism Committee yesterday (23 June). In addition, 59 foreign yachts visited Kawthaung, and 384 were day trippers. Yangon Region and other regions and states may receive more rainfall in the next (72) hours 23 June 2025 From tomorrow (24) June to (26) June, some regions and states including Yangon Region may receive more rainfall, according to external meteorologist U Win Naing. Kachin State, upper Sagaing Region, Chin State, Rakhine State, northern and eastern Shan State, Mon State, Kayin State, eastern Bago Region, Yangon Region (southern/eastern), northern Ayeyarwady Region and coastal areas may receive more rainfall, while the remaining states and regions may receive less rainfall. Yangon City Council urges shopping malls and high-end stores to separate waste into 4 categories 20 June 2025 The Yangon City Development Committee and the Department of Urban Environmental Conservation and Sanitation have urged shopping malls and high-end stores within the Yangon Metropolitan Municipality to cooperate in implementing the 4 categories of waste separation. The four types of waste are separated into green bins for wet waste such as kitchen utensils and personal hygiene products, yellow bins for dry waste such as paper, cardboard, scrap metal, linen, and wood, blue bins for plastic waste, and red bins for hazardous waste such as electronic waste, light bulbs, insecticides, and household chemical waste. In waste management, systematic separation of waste can help protect the environment, facilitate waste collection, and enable waste to be reused. #MyanmarUpdateNews

Meta announces to switch to Burmese Unicode for better reading of Facebook texts 13 June 2025 Meta Myanmar announced that it has not yet switched to Burmese (Unicode) for better reading of texts on Facebook and Messenger, and that it recommends that users of Burmese (Zawgyi) use Burmese (Unicode). The reason for this recommendation is that starting from June 26, automatic text conversion between Burmese (Unicode) and Burmese (Zawgyi) will no longer be available on Facebook. Therefore, those who have not switched to Burmese (Unicode) will not be able to read the full content of the texts on the social networking site correctly, and others will not be able to correctly identify the contents of their posts and the name of their social networking site (Facebook) account.
