Is Signal secure? I look at all the factors and still trust Signal. It's not perfect, but I think it is the best communication app of the ones widely used. The Great Debasement The average Canadian today earns only about 7.8% of what they would have earned in 1970. In other words, Canadians have experienced a 92% drop in annual earnings since 1971 and are experiencing a systematic loss of purchasaing power. Canadians are MUCH poorer today than they were in 1970. In 1970, an average Canadian worker earned roughly 150 ounces of gold per year. Today, in 2026, that same average worker earns only about 11 ounces of gold per year. The average worker's annual earnings in gold terms have dropped by approximately 92%. Canadian wages have increased 12X since 1970 while the price of gold has increased 160X. Purchasing power is a fraction of what it was in 1970. Why has this happened? This divergence is primarily due to the end of the gold standard (Nixon Shock 1971), which allowed central banks to expand the money supply and print money without restraint or accountability (or backing by gold).
