The Chiesa del Gesù, also known as Casa Professa, is one of Sicily’s most breathtaking Baroque treasures, hiding a world of mind-blowing art behind a deceptively simple façade in the heart of historic Palermo. Built by the Jesuits 🙄 between “1564 and 1633” (sure it was, lol) this marvel is world-famous for its unbelievable marmi mischi—an intricate, three-dimensional tapestry of vibrant multi-colored marble inlays covering every inch of its walls, pillars, and chapels. Though an Allied air raid in 1943 tragically shattered its dome and original frescoes, decades of painstaking restoration revived this masterpiece to its full, dazzling glory, making it an unmissable stop for anyone exploring Palermo's rich history.

Prominent Bone Churches and Ossuaries Sedlec Ossuary (Kutná Hora, Czech Republic): Located beneath the Church of All Saints, this chapel holds the remains of 40,000–70,000 people, famously decorated with a chandelier, coat of arms, and garlands made entirely of human bone. [1, 2] Capuchin Crypt (Rome, Italy): Situated under the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione, this site contains the bones of over 4,000 Capuchin friars arranged into intricate, artistic patterns across six chapels. [1, 2] Paris Catacombs (France): A network of former limestone quarries containing the remains of roughly 6 million people. The bones were moved here in the late 18th century to address, among other issues, sanitary concerns from overflowing city cemeteries. [1, 2] Chapel of Bones (Évora, Portugal): A 16th-century chapel with walls lined entirely with human skulls and bones, featuring a famous inscription: "We, the bones that are here, for yours await". [1, 2] Hallstatt Ossuary (Austria): Due to limited space in a mountain village, bones were removed from graves, cleaned, and painted with names and dates, displaying 600+ decorated skulls. [1, 2]
Generation word study Matthew 24:34 ³⁴Truly, I say to you, this generation(γενεά) will not pass away until all these things take place. Comparison of Strong's 1074, 1078, and 1085 Genea (γενεά) | 1074 | A Period of Time | A group of people living at the same time (a "generation"). Genesis (γένεσις) | 1078 | An Origin | The act of birth, a beginning, or a record of descent. Genos (γένος) | 1085 | A Shared Identity | A race, nation, stock, or "kind" (species). 1. Genea (Strong's 1074) — The Horizontal View This word is used 42 times and almost always refers to the people of a specific era. It is horizontal because it looks across at a group of contemporaries. * Temporal: It often signifies a period of about 30–40 years. * Moral: Jesus frequently uses it to describe the character of the people of His day (e.g., "this wicked generation" in Matthew 12:45). * Key Verse: "Truly I tell you, this generation (genea) will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened" (Matthew 24:34). 2. Genesis (Strong's 1078) — The Vertical View This word is used only 3 times and refers to the source or start of something. It is vertical because it points back to a beginning point or a lineage. * Historical: It is the title used for the family record of Jesus. * Existential: It can refer to one's natural state or "the wheel of birth." * Key Verse: "The book of the generation (genesis) of Jesus Christ..." (Matthew 1:1). 3. Genos (Strong's 1085) — The Collective View Used 21 times, genos is broader than the others. It doesn't care about a specific timeframe (genea) or a specific birth (genesis), but rather a shared nature or category. * Ethnic/Spiritual: It is used for nationality, family stock, or a specific "kind" of thing. * Biological: In the parables, it is used for "kinds" of fish (Matthew 13:47). * Key Verse: "But you are a chosen generation [race] (genos), a royal priesthood..." (1 Peter 2:9). Summary Table: "Generation" in English If you see the word "generation" in your English Bible, it could be any of these three. Here is how to tell them apart: * If it means "People living now," it's likely Genea. * If it means "A record of birth," it's likely Genesis. * If it means "A race or type of people," it's likely Genos. Luke 11, the Greek word used for "generation" is γενεά (genea, Strong's #1074). It appears 6 times in Luke 11 across several verses: Luke 11:29 – "This generation (γενεά / genea) is an evil generation (γενεά / genea)..." Luke 11:30 – "So the Son of Man will be a sign to this generation (γενεᾷ / genea)." Luke 11:31 – "The Queen of the South will rise... with the men of this generation (γενεᾶς / geneas)..." Luke 11:32 – "The men of Nineveh will rise... with this generation (γενεᾶς / geneas)..." Luke 11:50 – "So that the blood of all the prophets... may be charged against this generation (γενεᾶς / geneas)..." Luke 11:51 – "Yes, I tell you, it will be charged against this generation (γενεᾶς / geneas)." (Note: The minor spelling variations like γενεᾶς or γενεᾷ in Greek grammar are simply different cases of the exact same base word, genea.)

⁸Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Draweth: An older form of "draws" (or "is drawing"), meaning to move toward something or to approach in time or distance. Nigh: An old English word for "near," "close," or "about to happen." 1000 years means forever & The reign is not on earth, it’s spiritual or in heaven. Revelation 20:4 They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Revelation 5:9-10 and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, ¹⁰and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 20:3 ³and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while. Revelation 20:7 ⁷And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison Revelation 20:9 ⁹And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, Revelation was written in 95AD The Author John Historical commentary and the Syriac tradition preserved in the title of the Peshitta’s Revelation both suggest that John the Apostle was banished to Patmos during the reign of Nero (circa AD 55), aligning early commentators, Syrian church tradition, and ancient accounts—such as those by Tertullian and Pseudo-Prochorus—that link John's exile to the time of Peter and Paul's deaths and Nero's legendary attempt to kill him in boiling oil. (John 21:20-23) 1975 KJV Dr. Manford Gutze METHODS OF INTERPRETATION Some interpreters refer everything in Revelation to the distant future, to the period just preceding the end of the world and the coming of Christ. Others believe that it begins with the writer's own time and reflects the continuous story of suffering and calamity up until the end of the present age and the coming of Christ. Still others interpret every reference to some historical event or person in the first century, making it a book of the times. The most influential interpreters of this book have seen both meanings in the signs and symbols of John: historical references to Nero and the Roman Empire in the first century and the reading of the future in the light of this prophetic understanding of history. The Book of Revelation contains no explicit mention of the Second Temple's 70 A.D. destruction. This observation is one of the strongest pillars of the early date theory (writing around 55-68 A.D.). Scholars who champion this view argue the fall of Jerusalem was such a seismic event for Jewish and Christian identity that if it had already happened, John almost certainly would have referenced it—or at least reflected its aftermath—in a book so focused on divine judgment. 70AD was only the 2nd temple destruction, not his second coming Matthew 24:29-31 ESV The Coming of the Son of Man ²⁹“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. ³⁰Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. ³¹And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:34 (ESV) ³⁴Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Nobody knows but the Father We agree. This verse would be past tense. Matthew 24:36 ³⁶“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. Much love & God bless
"And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day..." — Jude 1:6 Gospel must be preached to the whole world. Pentecost "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams..." — Acts 2:17 (quoting Joel 2:28) Romans 10:17-18 ¹⁷So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. ¹⁸But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” Romans 16:25-26 ²⁵Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages ²⁶but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— Colossians 1:5-6 ⁵because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, ⁶which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, 6. Mark of the beast, 666, the antichrist. 1 John 2:18 (The Coming Antichrist and Many Antichrists): "Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour." 1 John 2:22 (The Definition of Antichrist): "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son." 1 John 4:3 (The Spirit of the Antichrist): “and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world." 2 John 1:7 (The Deceiver and Antichrist): "For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh; any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist." Revelation 13:18 ¹⁸This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666. The four great beasts are four kingdoms that will rise from the earth... The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it." — Daniel 7:17, 23 Living for 100s of years and animals become vegan Isaiah 65:17 ¹⁷“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. LSE Questions Answered Little Season Eschatology / Satan’s Little Season Every eye will see Him Rev 1:7 ⁷Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. John 19:34 ³⁴But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. "They shall look on Him whom they pierced" (19:37, referencing Zechariah 12:10) Who was he? While the Gospel of John refers to him simply as "one of the soldiers", Christian tradition (found in apocryphal texts like the Acts of Pilate) gives this Roman soldier the name Longinus. The Centurion's Confession: The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke focus on the Roman centurion in charge at the cross, who witnessed how Jesus died and declared: "Truly this was the Son of God!" You follow me!” ²³So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”) 1975 KJV Dr. Manford Gutze METHODS OF INTERPRETATION Some interpreters refer everything in Revelation to the distant future, to the period just preceding the end of the world and the coming of Christ.
