  • 101 Uz was never just a channel. It was voices — real, raw, unfiltered. To the point where our book was rejected by local publishers because it made them uncomfortable. Indeed, life can be uncomfortable. With each of your shared stories, we built a book, therapy sessions, and most importantly, a space where young people felt seen. I still keep those dozens of emails and messages from young people who reassured me in the value we brought. After all, the project was deeply personal—I never even imagined in what direction it might go. The project has ended, but the values stay intact. Just today, I had a conversation with a researcher from abroad studying social innovation in Central Asia. She found me through our book, she was fascinated by it. And it reminded me again of the legacy we built together. Surely, 101 Uz will always stay as a chapter that mattered. I had the chance to work with some of most amazing young people. Oh and—those nights spent crying over the passages I had to edit? That was the whole point. I won’t continue posting here — because without the mission behind it, it wouldn’t be the same. I’m hopeful each of you are pursuing the path towards the better. And if you’re ever looking for me — I’m still writing, in my own world, probably somewhere where summer never ends: https://t.me/summernotes Love, Nodira

WON GLOBAL UGRAD. YAY. Thank God. Today was hectic. Exam in the morning which I barely managed to come on time to. Then IT Community project. If you remember I mentioned organizing an event there, a gamified competition for tech beginners. We had our MVP today, with around 8 team participants of 4 to 5 people. The event was almost certain to be a disaster - technical issues in the last minute, the website we were creating didn’t work, with all the games in it - yet somehow turned out pretty memorable. I had to keep the audience engaged as the host, but when you know your team messed up, you can’t even hide that in your voice as it gets cracky with each word on the stage. But, до поры до времени. I confirmed for myself that I feel better the more I stay on the stage, the more comfortable I get with being the lead of the event. At the end, instead of hosting the website, we just made the participants write on handouts and showed the questions as PDF in old good format. I was literally ready to hide from everyone at some point, go to a quiet place and cry for some time from the fact that sometimes, no matter what you do, things still go wrong. Right, you’re the manager, so you are responsible for the outcome even if the development of the game was not your part. You had to find way to take everything under control. Yet, yeah, mess happens. Shavkat Karimov, the director of ITCom, was kind and supportive enough to explain to me that I should take this experience as a great lesson not to be repeated in the future - so, better be thankful that things went wrong. How do we learn otherwise? In the middle of this all, right during the competition, I receive this email. Couldn’t hide my smile. I applied to UGRAD in October last minute, because I didn’t know that freshmen were eligible too. As my plans of going to the US didn’t realize as my parents felt it was too early, I was skeptical about this program too. Yet, seems like we’re spending our next semester in the US:) what a day

  • A Chance to Make a Difference This Ramadan As we approach the final days of Ramadan, let’s come together for a good cause. We’re raising funds for Ezgu Amal, a charity that supports children battling cancer. You can contribute in two ways: ✨Donate directly (card details below) ✨Buy a book – We have only 10 copies left of 101 Teenagers of Uzbekistan and Behind the Geniuses of Literature. Every sum from these sales will go to the charity. The last story in our book 101 Teenagers of Uzbekistan is a reminder of why this cause matters—because no one should have to fight this battle alone. Let’s use this Ramadan to bring hope. Even the smallest help can change lives🤍 Card Number: 5614 6822 1666 5705 All the transactions made to the charity we will share in the comments. @Sunny_Youth

on Thursday had the chance to meet Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, currently mentor and philanthropist. A brilliant self-taught engineer since young age, he teamed up with his friend Steve Jobs in the mid-1970s. Wozniak built the Apple I computer almost entirely by himself — he just wanted to make cool tech for hobbyists. Jobs, ever the visionary businessman, saw its commercial potential. Together, they started Apple in 1976 in a garage (yes, the legendary garage story is true). Woz went on to design the Apple II, one of the first mass-market personal computers and a huge success. While Jobs drove the company’s vision and marketing, Woz was the technical guy behind the curtain. Eventually, Woz left Apple in the mid-80s (on good terms) to pursue other interests, but he’s still celebrated as the engineering soul of the company’s origin. Brains + vision = Apple. Woz was definitely the “brains” part of that equation. You can be the smartest person in the room, but if you can’t communicate your ideas, you might as well be invisible. The world doesn’t automatically recognize genius—it notices what’s well-presented, well-explained, and well-marketed. Taking Steve Wozniak’s words. At one of the universities he’s involved with, engineering students don’t just build things—they learn how to write about them in a way that editors can actually publish and anyone can comprehend. Because if people don’t understand your work, it might as well not exist. It’s not about bragging– it’s about making sure your brilliance isn’t lost in translation. You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room, but you do want to be clear and visible. Otherwise, someone else—maybe with half your talent but better communication—will take the spotlight instead. Wozniak’s words also made me think of the Durov brothers, Pavel and Nikolai. Also, of my classmate’s words when we were in Zulfiya award ceremony and how he mentioned that were I better in communicating in Uzbek (smth i’m still working on), I wouldn’t be sitting and watching my opponents shine. (I still believe such awards are corrupted tho) @nodirakhan_101
