CAREST THOU NOT THAT WE PERISH — Mark 4:38 Mortal man was created to be dependent—to realise his incapacity and look unto the one true and living God. "Carest Thou not that we perish?" is the cry of the desperate man, the soul caught up in deep waters. In Mark 4, while the disciples battled the raging tempest, Jesus remained asleep until they cried unto Him. Their helplessness drove them to the Lord, and He arose, rebuked the winds, and brought great calm. Scripture shows us however, that God's answer to our cry is not always the same. Paul pleaded three times for his thorn to depart, but instead of immediate deliverance, the Lord answered, "My grace is sufficient for you." David also cried before God over his dying child, yet the child died. Still, David rose, worshipped, and submitted himself to God's will. The first response is the one we naturally desire, but God's love is also revealed in His silence. Sometimes He calms the storm; sometimes He gives grace to endure it; and sometimes He remains silent to deepen our faith until we seek His heart more than His hand. Whatever His response, our confidence and consolation remains that He is just and a good God. To someone out there, you have been battered by life's storms, know this, that GOD HEARS YOU. Keep calling upon Him. Against all hope, believe in hope. In due season, when patience has had its perfect work, you will be complete and lacking nothing.  "²⁵The Lord  is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. ²⁶It  is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord." —Lamentations 3:25-26 Shalom, Maranatha

A Faithful and Just God One of the central aspects of the gospel message is that every human has fallen short of God’s moral standard. We've all sinned, or missed the mark of living rightly. We’ve all messed up, made mistakes, and acted in a way that goes against God’s design for our lives. Sin separates us from being in a right relationship with God. But while we were separated from God, Jesus made a way for us to return back to Him through His death and resurrection. Now, we can be in a relationship with God again! But even though we’ve been forgiven for our sins, it doesn’t always feel that way. We can still carry around the guilt and shame from our sinful actions—even though we’ve been forgiven by Christ. That’s why 1 John 1:9 is a great reminder: when we confess our sins to God, He is faithful to forgive us. Our forgiveness is not based on our own faithfulness— it’s based on God’s faithfulness. Since we know God is faithful and cannot lie, we can trust that He will forgive us and purify us from everything that keeps us from Him. This means that we don’t need to live under the weight of our own guilt. We have truly been freed in Christ. Forgiveness should empower us to continue to live righteous and faithful lives with God, and model forgiveness to others who need it! Take a moment and thank God for forgiving your sins through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Thank Him that you are now a child of God, free from the guilt of the past. Ask Him to strengthen you as you walk in that truth.

There's No Peace Without His Presence Moses was standing in the middle of a desert—both literally and spiritually. The people had just rebelled against God by building an idol of a golden calf, and now their future felt uncertain. Yet in this moment of deep tension, Moses makes a bold request: If God’s presence won’t go with them to their destination, Moses says, he’d rather not go at all. It’s not that Moses didn’t want the promised land. But more than the land, more than progress, more than answers, Moses wanted God Himself. He knew that no amount of success, comfort, or direction could ever replace the nearness of the Lord. There are seasons in life when we find ourselves in our own wilderness: confused, dried up, uncertain of the next step. In those moments, it’s easy to crave clarity. But what we truly need is God's presence, not just answers. Peace doesn’t come from knowing the plan. It comes from knowing He is with us in it. God's presence is our distinguishing mark. It's what makes the wilderness bearable, and even holy. So if you’re in a place where your soul feels tired or directionless, let this be your prayer: "Don’t send me unless You’re going with me." Because where His presence goes, there’s always life, purpose, and peace—even in the desert.

DON’T HELP GOD Lamentations 3:26 (NIV) says, “It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” This verse is short, but it carries deep truth. It tells us that when God is working on our situation, the best thing we can do is to wait quietly. Waiting quietly means trusting Him without complaining, without rushing, and without trying to force things to happen our way. It means believing that God’s timing is perfect, even if it feels slow to us. Many people find it hard to wait quietly on God. They think there is something they can do to make things happen faster. My message to you is: Don’t help God. he doesn’t need your help he is Omnipotent. God is like a skilled professional. When you take your car to a trusted mechanic or a phone to an expert technician, they first do a diagnosis. They carefully check the wires, the circuit boards, and the systems. At that moment, what they want is quietness and no interference from you. Why? Because they know what they are doing. It’s the same in a hospital. If your loved one is taken to the operation room, the surgeons do not want you inside telling them what to do. They need space and calm to perform their work well. You will seat at the bench and wait. In the same way, when you submit your prayers to God, you must learn to step back and trust Him. Exodus 14:14 (NIV) says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” God is able to handle your situation without your interference. When you try to “help” Him, you often make the process longer and harder. Your part is to believe, pray, and wait with hope. Let God do His work in His time and His way. He never fails, and when He finishes His work, it will be perfect. The Cost of Following Jesus We know from Scripture that salvation is a free gift that Jesus offers to those who trust and believe in Him. But just because our salvation is free—doesn’t mean the rest of our lives with Jesus will cost us nothing as well. Jesus says that following Him will cost us everything. This doesn’t mean we have to earn our salvation or work for acceptance, but it does mean that following Jesus requires everything that we have. When we become disciples of Jesus, we follow in His footsteps. We let Jesus teach and guide us. If we are serious about this, then our lives will become patterned after His life. This means that just as Jesus took up a cross and gave up everything He had, we also must be ready to carry our own cross. So what does it mean to take up a cross and follow Jesus? It means that we should be ready to give up everything for the sake of Jesus. It means denying ourselves by surrendering our own desires and plans for God’s desires and plans. Rather than focusing on ourselves, we center our lives around God’s mission in the world: loving Him and loving others as we make disciples.  Taking up one’s cross isn’t easy, but there is nothing in this life that is better than following Jesus. While immediate pleasure often feels more desirable in the moment, it quickly fades and leaves us searching for more. No possession or position can lead to true satisfaction in life—that is found only in Jesus. Take a moment to think about your life. Are there things that you’re holding onto that you would be hesitant to surrender to Jesus? Are there relationships that serve your own desires rather than God’s? Commit to following Jesus regardless of how difficult or challenging life might become. The cross, while painful, is temporary—abundant life with Jesus is eternal.

Forgiven and Free John 3:17 comes right after one of the most famous verses in the Bible, and it continues to clarify the manner in which Jesus brings us eternal life. The great gift of God through Jesus comes to all who believe in Jesus as the way to salvation. John tells us that Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world because of its sin, but rather to save the world through His life, death, and resurrection. It can be easy to feel condemned or guilty because we don’t often see ourselves as worthy of God’s love. But this verse tells us something important—regardless of who you are or what you’ve done, you are loved by God. God is not trying to make your life difficult. He wants the best for you and desires a relationship with you. He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to the earth to give us grace and life that we did not deserve. While it is true that Jesus exposes the darkness of this world (John 3:19), anyone who believes in Jesus and follows Him will experience salvation, and all that God has to offer. If we choose to follow the ways of this world rather than Jesus, then our actions and thoughts will lead us to condemnation and death. But if we follow Jesus and believe in His Word, then we will experience eternal life in relationship with God.  Spend some time thanking God for the amazing gift of eternal life that He's given to you for free. Continue to walk in the light of Jesus—knowing that you are no longer condemned, but forgiven and free!

Holding the Door Open In 2 Peter 3:9, Peter writes to encourage his friends… “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent." Peter is reminding them that the world in its present state won’t last forever. We look forward to the day when the new heavens and new earth will arrive and all evil, suffering, and death will pass away. But our time holds a special characteristic: it’s a chance for people to repent and find salvation. Jesus, in His kindness, is holding the door open—giving time for more people to turn away from destructive living and come to Him. This is our golden opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus. Through His followers, He is actively extending His offer of new, eternal life to the world. And those who respond to that invitation will find the peace of God’s presence. They’ll have access to joy that can’t be taken away by circumstances. They can develop a relationship with the living God, who loves them without reservation. He wants EVERYONE—all of humanity—invited to the party. Invited to turn away from their old life of destruction. To come to Him and know Him, experiencing His life-changing love. To be with Him, and follow Him today and into eternal life. What an amazing chance we have been given! And you get to participate! You can help spread the word, making God’s offer of life known: Jesus came to offer redemption to all who would come.
